Hell, this year I should have a multi camera setup (showing coming & going)....:driving:

OBTW, I'm gonna probably miss the next few meets -- that pesky old "business travel" thingee is screwing up my April (and my golf trip later in the month, and the Richmond NASCAR trip, ......) -- will be monitoring things on the new Justin "BEAVER" site...that was a really cool pink.......NOT!

Should be to at least a couple before the cruiZ down to ZdayZ. OBTW, got the long range motorola radios for the lead & tail end car picked out, just gotta get on Amazon and place the order will do that shortly.....

I think I'm in, but holding off on washing the car due to the impending rain.

shadoquad 04-02-2011 08:17 AM

I'm out today.

Last night, though, I took a run to Loch Raven Reservoir and Pretty Boy Reservoir. I think we need to cruise it. Here's a couple notes.
  • I want to cruise on a week day next time, so that we can experience the entire length of Loch Raven Drive. It's gorgeous, and sections are closed every weekend.
  • Driving Falls Road up to Pretty Boy from Shawan Rd is a long gorgeous drive in itself.
  • Pretty Boy is all twisty, windy roads in a rural area. It's all farmland out there.
  • The route I took was wonderful. I crossed a bridge on Beckleysville Rd, then turned right on Spook Hill Rd, which has awesome curves, then stayed right on Pretty Boy Dam Rd, which crossed back over the Reservoir via a cobblestone road on the dam itself.
  • The road conditions aren't great. I was flinging rocks, and I hit a pothole large enough to bounce me a good 2-3 feet off the ground.
  • I'm going to map a cruise that probably starts in Towson, jaunts us up Falls Rd, performs the complete loop around Pretty Boy, and then cuts over to Loch Raven, ending in Towson.

Sounds good. What day/time were you thinking for the weekday cruise?

Jon- I'll be there tomorrow for the NoVa Sports Car Meetup. Steve should be there as well. 60 degrees and sunny weather for tomorrow

Sorry I couldn't make it today. First round of golf for the year, which ended up being cut short thanks to some nice downpours out in Ashburn

Haha, yeah she's pretty cool. I think she's trying to steal my Z from me though, so I may have to be careful:rofl2:.

I thought I heard you mention needing to get camber arms with the Swifts, I was just wondering if you happened to know how far off your camber was with the install?

Didn't you say she claimed the Subie? Looks like you'll have to get a 5.0 now:icon17:

Just keep complaining about the road noise in the Z. Soon she'll become paranoid and hate it :roflpuke2:

No, I just remembered some thread somebody made about that. They said all the complaints about road noise on the forum made him paranoid and notice the road noise, which really bothered him. :rofl2:

Yeah, we were thinking you might be playing golf in the rain. Too bad but the weather has just been downright odd this year. Looking forward to some sun and warmth! See you tomorrow.

Yes, I have to wait till Tuesday to get the info hopefully as he was out of town. It can't be a whole lot though I would think.

And your camber readings were?

-1.7 in the from for me and -2.2 in the rear. I think I am staying pat with the current settings.

I emailed Swift in Ontario, CA and they said that they've been told by customers that camber kits are not needed. However, Swift says they recommend a camber kit with any kind of height change so I'm going to go with it.

So, this weekend is another York Road Cruise. The plan is mostly the same as last time.

There will be a group meeting at Hooters around 9am, departing around 9:30, but if you want to go directly there, we'll meet at Starbucks in Shrewsbury around 10am.

We'll depart there at 11am, drive down the length of York Road, and then stop at Hunt Valley Town Center for a rest and to get the group together. We will then pick up Ashland Road and head around the reservoir, picking up Loch Raven Dr for a quick jaunt, and then ending once again at Hooters.

I also have a big dam announcement to make tomorrow, so I hope we get a good turnout.

No input from PA folks who said they knew better roads to drive on down there?

That's a lot of rear camber.

I think it's also barely out of spec for the Z

Still seems like a lot to me. On the rear I'd want to be less than 2 degrees so I could actually put power down. Though I guess with the staggered setup you need a good bit of negative camber to fight all that understeer. sigh.

No, but it cornered pretty well with 235's all around and so much camber. That sucker was a blast to drive.

I think factory spec only goes to like 1.6* or something. I dunno, I was always more concerned with getting power down coming out of a turn than on a straight line, but I might think differently if I had a Mustang:rofl2:

Well, that's my thinking too. I just think -2.2 is a lot for the street because 99% of the time you aren't pulling 1 lateral G as you go to accelerate out of a corner... :icon17:
