(also, my damage was high because i was PUG dropped with 7 assault mechs vs. 7 assaults and a jenner. i had plenty to play with.)

I have noticed the same thing, but it always jumps back up once I start moving again. I think it calculates the remaining distance based on driving habits of the last few minutes/miles or something...
