Thanks man. To be honest I'm not exactly sure since I haven't had anyone in the passenger seat to watch gauge and rpms I'd be shocked if it's anything higher than 2500rpms.

Lag is almost nonexistent like something ridiculous 3-400rpms.

I'll know more when I get it tuned. It should improve boost threshold.

Appreciate you helping me out yesterday. It cleaned up a lot as I ran it. Still having some issues but nothing like those first couple test runs

SMKYTXN 04-21-2014 10:11 AM

The build turned out really nice John. Can't wait to see what a real tune will do for it.

You don't know how relieved I was when you hit the start button and all the electrical components fired up like they were supposed too.

Hell, I was just relieved it started and ran. This was by far the most ambitious project I've ever tackled. :rofl2:

Me too. A few squeaks and rattles aside and a minor tune issues everything went as expected.

JARblue 04-21-2014 05:56 PM

Fucking nice :yum:

Where the hell do you guys get all those t-shirts? :rofl2:

Mexico. Chuck and I take the ladies down at least once a year for a week bender

This is a great build. I was noticing all of the funny t-shirts as well. Should you have a clamp on the lower coolant hose?

Dammit!!

I was literally just there on Saturday - we took a weekend cruise to Cozumel. I'm pretty sure it was a bender, but I don't really remember :icon17:

We stay on the mainland in Playa del Carmen but take the ferry across one day to dive

Just a quick follow up now that I've had a little more time behind the wheel. Boost threshold is between 2700-2900 rpms, full boost by 3300ish

That's not bad at all

Awesome build and thanks for pioneering it for us G's.

Thanks. Somebody had to be the first to try and see if it would fit. It does with a few things relocated and some minor trimming on the back side of the bumper.

The boost threshold should improve once I get a custom tune.

Long story short, this platform loves boost!

jwick 04-24-2014 01:13 AM

Update...my tuner had a slot open up for Friday. Guess I'll be going full out sooner than I thought

Same to you. I've actually already got the numbers I'm going to call it decided. I'm looking more for area under the curve andearlier boost threshold

jwick 04-25-2014 08:09 AM

Unfortunately the dyno my tuner uses is a heartbreaker mustang so the numbers aren't going to be sexy on the graph. I'll have to apply an adjustment factor.

Chuck and I have planned a trip to a dynojet for comparable numbers

Hindsight being 20/20 and all, I should have charged up the GoPro batteries and let you borrow it for the dyno runs.

jwick 04-25-2014 08:10 AM

True. I've got the camera. It takes decent video.

What time you free today?

I won't be getting out of the office until 12 or 1. If you're still up there and will be for a while I'll swing by. I just dont want to show up as they're pulling the car off the dyno.

This was quick on the trigger. You got in before my edit. Posting while still half asleep will get you some times.

Chuck33079 04-25-2014 08:49 AM

Do you have a bigger pic? I can't quite make out any details in that one. :rofl2:

Chuck33079 04-25-2014 08:50 AM

If I hadn't spent Wednesday out of the office I could have snuck up there to watch the whole tune.

Make sure you get Johnny's opinion of getting the tuner license so we can tweak things ourselves.

That's definitely on the agenda

YzGyz 04-25-2014 09:08 AM

Man I want to go check out your dyno pulls. What time? I just got home and out the shower and getting in bed. If I wake up I time, I will like to come see, then get back yo bed.

Heading there now

Boosted Performance 04-25-2014 09:37 AM

I wouldn't get overly concerned about numbers. As long as you have a solid tune...you will be happy.

I have customers that have put down 560whp on a DD with this kit (350z) and then they go on a DJ and come out at almost 700whp. The things is, when the customer is at track events, mile shoot-outs...ect, he tell everybody that he only has 560whp...so they line him up with some "high power, fast cars", and he blows their doors off.

jwick 04-25-2014 09:50 AM

Agreed. Dyno is just a tuning tool.
