Fixed a few things on the Z today. One of which was the alternator wire was to close to the exhaust and wasn't tucked nicely. Heres a pic of the pass side with the wires tucked away again.

Also fixed an exhaust rattle, and a small electrical issue where my lights were turning on automatically.

Also found myself in traffic...sat in bumper to bumper for 1 hour. Had ac on the whole time with windows down. Coolant temps were good, oil temps were good, afrs stayed where they should be. Very good considering the heat soak.

I think it would be fun to do a mile race... see who would win between the two cars :stirthepot:

I only say mile because with the wheel spin, we need more distance

Haha I'm down. Keep an eye on my YouTube Channel. I should have a few videos up soon once it'd tuned. We have a dude with a ZR1 and a 458 Italia I'll be running against.

Very impressive. My car would overheat in conditions like that, but my turbo was in the worst spot possible.

Thanks! :tiphat:

That's pretty much always going to be a problem for us top mount fellas. I really cant wait to see the results of a full wrap in my bay with the air ducts. I really wish all of you guys were closer :? We really could've had some awesome Z meets that's for sure!

Haha I would like to think so. Seems like most of us in a way had to go the custom route for this sort of thing. So its atleast badass if not fast as hell.

Honestly I really thought the car wouldnt feel "stock" after a turbo build. But honestly as long as you aren't pushing too hard it feels barely different. Im really digging it.

:iagree: the fact that you can drive around town, out of boost is a blessing!

It takes probably a solid day, less if you have two+ motivated people. But it's fairly easy.

MyKindaGuise 07-29-2013 10:08 AM

Talk about quality. Not sure how long it will hold up but at $99 from the actual company Ill be happy even buying a new blanket every year.

Idk ive seen guys go through the DEI turbo blankets that are twice the cost in about 2 years. Its all subjective to driving styles however.

Honestly if it can last a whole season (March-September) ill be pleased. Still waiting on a more complete tune so we can actually make better and safer use of boost....im mildly dying inside from all of the anticipation. John knows his stuff but communication is a struggle at best.

haha yeaaaaa he has that issue with more people than just you.

Sh0velMan 07-29-2013 10:40 AM

Good find on that blanket... add it to the list of stuff for the RB we're building.

I think the "issue" is that he has big clients. Like Crawford performance and other big names I cannot recall at the moment. Pretty sure his "etuning" takes a back seat which is fine when you have high paying customers actually sending you cars from a great distance. It is just frustrating. All I need is an ETA or a "im working on some adjustments" heck even a go eff yourself would be good so that I can make arrangements elsewhere.

His last response was..."Its time we meet up and tune for real power on a dyno"...he then asked some additional questions.

He hasn't responded yet so I am dead in the water wondering if I will get an etune for full throttle and boost or if im going to have to wait for him to come down here and dyno tune for it. I do NOT care either I just want to know what to expect.

yea i understand he has big name clients but if you're soo busy with that why take on etuning? i mean i know he's really good and i've met him and had lunch etc etc he's a great dude dont get me wrong lol

i honestly would have just stuck with uprev if i went boosted since a. i already have my own personal tuner kit and b. there's plenty people with experience readily available to tune it asap.

Yeah honestly if Ecutek wasn't going to be so feature rich in the near future I would've went with Uprev. We could've had the car tuned ourselves since Pat has tuned his own standalone megasquirt ecu he is pretty good with doing it. Wouldn't be perfect but itd be good enough to have fun and still go get a pro tune later. Also I got the HOOKUP on pricing with John which really made the choice unbeatable.

No link, I should probably take pictures next time we're working on it..

At the moment we've got the head off, everything taken off the block except the rotating assembly. Going to de-grease and flush the bottom end but not remove the rotating assembly (no reason to think it's bad so we're gonna leave it alone).

I'm going to be disassembling the head, completely cleaning that, doing some minor re-shaping on the exhaust ports (they have a big lump that intrudes into the port) giving the valve seats a quick polish and new seals.

We haven't decided if we're gonna slap cams on it or not...

Anyone ever see this? Car functions as usual. Came on while driving to lunch.

Fluids are good. Reset battery and it came on again right away. Scanning cels soon.

Ill check but I could still turn it on and off. Error would go away when off.

italy3541 07-29-2013 11:52 AM

That's odd maybe there is a problem with ur sport mode if it goes away when u turn it off maybe a tuning issue. Did the tune u did effect your rev matching?
