Update for you guys. Traction will be more of an issue then I thought. The only car I can compare this too, driving wise, is a C6 corvette ZR1. A ZR1 wants to bury you, that's it's goal in life, in second you gently roll the throttle and think "Oh I'll have some more" All of sudden you're 50-75% throttle, in boost and sideways. This Z is exactly like that. We've been working the tuning out and slowly getting more and more psi. Today I was on a straight road, squeeze the throttle gently, thought "Let's go a bit faster" all of a sudden I'm sideways at 6000RPM and counter steering. No idea what psi I hit, couldn't look at the gauges.

i'm scared that when i come out there and get a ride in it i'll be hooked lol :shakes head: |

I did forget to tell him to turn TC off as it isn't scaled yet and it is extremely dangerous as I have heard from other boosted members... But yeah. I took a half day today at work. so 12 CANNOT come fast enough. |

this next hour is gonna be awful for you :bowrofl: i know it would for me if i had a boosted Z at home |

Also folks keep in mind...we have made any VVEL VVT or timing adjustments...John will most likely be coming down to Harrisburg to do that on a dyno.

Vinyled the car today. Spur of the moment. Turned out nice. Also did racing stripes.
|
Very impressive. What are you planning to do as far as keeping the heat away from everything?
|
if ur out driving ur z hit me up. ill come out..

As far as heat goes I will be wrapping all the manifolds and getting some aero space foil on the intercooler piping. Were working on some air ducting plans right now as well. Also new mishimoto radiator is in the plans as well. And Paul you have a text. |
Are you planning on putting on a turbo blanket?
Also, are you using Ecutek for the boost control? |
I seriously cant wait to see it in person.... mad props to you for doing this build!!!!!!

I actually have to be really careful on base when driving the NISMO... because I will spin the tires and the cops on base realllllly frown on that |
Way to step off the beaten path.... keep the progress coming!

SOOOOOOOOOOO MANY QUOTES hahaha.

And Ecutek will eventually be used for boost control. Right now its just on there for data logging and tuning. John told me scaled traction control and...hold on to your hat...speed density tuning is right around the corner. I cannot WAIT to ditch these MAF sensors! Quote:

Yeah the car is super fun. My problem with heat wrap/turbo blankets is over heating the components. Though a blanket is pretty much a necessity.
Its pretty impressive how much crap HASN'T melted. A few pieces of plastic hit the exhaust and melted a chunk on but it should be almost burned off by now. I had him roll into boost in 3rd on the highway. 4psi feels like a rocket. I can't wait for it to be fully tuned. We hit full boost and its "safe". But its so rich its losing power and if you were to go WOT it would bog it was so rich. Like anti-lag sounding it will bog so bad. |

And one last pic. You can see the racing stripes here. It is mimicked on both sides. Looks awesome from the front with the hood breaking the lines up.

and yea man when I get home I will do a few passes so you can hear my waste gate.. so loud ..lol |

Please do. The internet needs moar turbo Z videos. |

and from what I have done as far as research.. it should pull a lot of heat |

I'm anxious to see what he can do with speed density, as well as the VVEL/VVT and timing on a turbo car. Plus, boost control in each gear is almost a necessity. I'd like to be able to use second gear again. |

and trust me, the blanket is a GOOD idea... |
I guess my phone post never made it. Yeah the turbo blanket is pretty much a necessity.

Is a single 3" big enough? I was under the impression that the stock two 2.5" pipes outflow a single 3". Maybe a 3.5" would be more appropriate. Considering you guys can build basically whatever you want, why not go a little bigger?

Ok. That makes more sense.
|
Yeah in time it will happen. Want to see what we can push with this set-up first.
|
Hey quick question btw - how did you do the footwell accent lighting? Is there a DIY somewhere?
