Hang up's is an understatement. Lol.
Blew an intercooler pipe, found an unplugged sensor. Had to retune fuel map.

Somehow the spark plugs failed. Two and half hours and $180 later we have new GTR plugs which, incidentally, are the same part number as the stock 370 plugs. Some how it magically fixes it.

Start to tune again and get fuel dialed in boost. 3 power pulls (tweaking fuel not timing or anything yet, and I could hear a boost leak but couldn't find it) and we hit 400/351.

3rd pull it shuts off. Frantic hours trying to find what has melted.

11pm call triple a and get a tow truck scheduled for 12:30 eta. Also find a load of melted wires. Push car onto lift and start cutting, splicing and re-routing wires.

12:10 truck shows up and I've got 6 or so wires to go. However at this point is 2 greens and 2 whites, without any way to distinguish between them. I'm ready to give up. However the car starts.

12:30 Send the truck away, start taping and tucking and zip tie-ing the shiz out of the wires. Also re-installed the down pipe.

1:00ish test drive.

1:30 finally at a gas station and leaving

around 2:30ish we pull over and I immediately spot the boost leak. FML it's post MAF so of course the fuel map will need re done again.

However once these issues are fixed I think we could definitely hit 420-450whp before we starting to up the boost.

Oh yeah M.R. Performance is f*cking incredible the owner went and waited two hours to get us spark plugs, he also waited with the us and didn't kick us out of the shop.

Visconti did do an awesome job getting fuel dialed in boost despite having a leak so we were able to make it home fine.

Also the car is freaking quick now. I can't wait to add another 100hp/100tq.

That sounds like an ordeal! Worth it, though.

Took the cars out this weekend. The car still drives incredibly well even with the boost leak. Hoping to find time this week to etune with John now that my laptop is fixed. Anyways we went to a local drive in for dinner and a few minutes later we had a nice sized crowd hovering around the cars.

Turbo blanket is getting fully secured today and some more touch up crap. Build is pretty much done so it is just odds n ends anymore. Probably wont be updating much anymore unless it is new parts. Probably buying a Chevy s10 for winter here very soon so maybe ill include that occasionally.

Also was told this weekend that my car should be idling and cruising at an 11-11.5 afr hahaha. yeah no. Please no one take that info. That is just horrible.

As for soon to see updates...
New Dynos with the retune for boost leak fix. Expect 450whp
New Dynos on 10 and 12lbs of boost. Expect 500ish and boatloads of torque.

I think 12psi might be asking for trouble on a stock block and remember, high torque = high engine pressure, the con rods may not like that. Just my 2 cents :)

Chuck33079 08-19-2013 06:23 PM

To be fair, he's running a smaller turbo than some of the other builds. It's not really about psi as much as cfm.

That was not the info given in the other thread maybe if mx5 could read retain info and tell you,you probably wouldn't have so many problems with your tune.

He can read an interprets as he pleases. I don't decide what comes out of his mouth or through his keyboard. Like I said before, we had a miscommunication I had no issues with you until you come in here and accuse me of things I don't do. Don't attack my credibility.

Reads like you are saying 11-11.5 is a good idle and cruise afr moron.

Im not the only one who read it like that either. You should work on your composition skills.

Here is the comment,

In the 14 is fine at idle and part throttle driving, and when floored 11.5-11.0 is good for this kit,if you want I have the tune that Sam sent me you can have it and just have your tuner swap all the info from my Rom to your Rom.

Both you two are Fvckin azz bags.

Have fun with your build,:shakes head:

Right so when MX5 SPECIFICALLY said cruise and idle why did you go on about 11s not stating what type of driving would be required for those number. Trust me Mark came and asked me wtf was going on because of you throwing out misleading info. Just watch how you phrase stuff because to some members your word carries weight around here.

The guy I posted it to understood it first time he read it,maybe all of you other people just don't get it so therefore is must be wrong.

All I know is how the owner of the car took it. And how I took it..and about 4 other people. And MX5 just said miscommunication to not start this very conversation and crap up someone else's build thread. However this topic is completely okay to be had in my thread.

Regardless I guess at the end of the day our goal was the same. Which was trying to help give Mark info on his situation.

I have a set of his first runs, and although there are 1-2 minor things I would like to change, all in all I love them.

Yeah man. He puts together a solid product. Really worth every single penny spent.

batboyvaj 02-20-2014 07:19 PM

i might have missed it, but do you have a dyno graph?

O&G 02-21-2014 01:12 AM

Baer has always been a cocky know it all on here, just read a few pages off a post I started some time ago. Does he even drive his S/C Z anymore that he tuned himself? Some things never change on here no matter how long you stay away, LOL!

http://www.the370z.com/tuning/61400-...nlocked-6.html

Keep at it man and good luck!

Sh0velMan 02-21-2014 09:27 PM

He sold it and bought a Camaro. ZL1 I think.

MyKindaGuise 05-23-2014 10:14 AM

At work so I did not proof read.lol

Sorry for the late responses...kinda forgot about this thread.

Lol that guy is a joke. I don't mind cocky but atleast have the intelligence to back it up.

And Yes he is on that ZL1 life now.

Anyways I will post some updates...some good some bad. The one off build has had its struggles which I was anticipating.

The good:
Z is now vinyled
Z is now on BC BRs
Z now has a Mishimoto Rad
Z has had power steering relocated
Z is now on 265s/305s

The bad:
Turbo seals blew...Over oiling was the cause. Guess a -3 feed and -8 drain was too aggressive. I have since bumper to a -10 drain but that has had its issues. With the way the turbo is mounted the new -10 line is too large and hits the t3 flange and the CHRA will not properly seat in the exhaust side. Last week I modeled up a new drain flange with a hard line extension and it should be machined and ready to go this weekend. This should give me enough room for the new rubber drain hose to clamp on.

Once this is done other than a small PS leak at the inlet the car is ready to head to RT Tuning for retune and a few more pounds of boost and maybe e85.

Also my fabricator and I have parted ways on this project so everything from here on out will be professionally made but using my 3d models/drafts in Solidworks.
