Nice and shiny! Got the trans in and everything bolted back up. Got to say the hardest part about this whole install was installing that turbo and getting the clamps on on the inter cooler piping. There were quite a few choice words but she went after awhile.

I spent about an hr trying to bleed the new CSC with no luck :/. Had to call it quits for the night as I couldn't lift my arms anymore to loosen and tighten the bleed screw. Anyone got any suggestions? Thinking of purchasing a vacuum tool to hook onto it and help suck the air out of the system. Has anyone done this?

GaleForce 04-14-2013 09:45 PM

Did you try bleeding the clutch master cylinder? Mine had air in it, bled it and so far so good.

I did not, is there a bleed screw on it? Was not aware of this. haha

GaleForce 04-14-2013 09:48 PM

Just loosen the fitting at the front of it, have someone slowly pump the clutch then tighten it back up when you don't get any more bubbles.

Doesn't the air just run up into the reservoir? Or are you talking about the fitting on the high pressure side of the master cylinder? I think there is probably air in the master cylinder because it is moving next to no fluid (or air) from pumping.

I need to look at my CMC again to be sure. I just know that my clutch went to the floor 2 blocks from the shop after getting the clutch installed. I got it home and bled the CMC because Joe at Z-Speed said it needs to be bled and I knew the shop that did my clutch install didn't bleed it, now it works like a charm.

It must be on the high pressure side.

Mitco39 04-14-2013 10:06 PM

I looked through the manual and didnt see anything like that. Ill take a look at it tomorrow and see if I can see what you are talking about. In the manual it specifically says not to use a vacuum assist or pressure assist. So it looks like that is out.

GaleForce 04-14-2013 10:20 PM

I believe there is only one line going to the CMC, at least I only remember one line (I did this last October). I cracked it loose, had my wife pump the clutch slowly and I tightened it up after the bubbles stopped. That's the extent of my knowledge. lol

Give Joe at Z-Speed a call. He'll know what to do.

She started to lean out on top so we had to leave it there, Once I get that issue solved there is no reason the car wont be at 540-550 RWHP. There was no knocking on this run except for the very end when it leaned out.

Hmmm....I don't have this run in the files you sent.

Mitco39 05-11-2013 02:53 PM

Hmm... ill have to look through them and see. To be honest I never had time to look over them yet.

Mecinoid 05-28-2013 12:56 AM

Any update? Did you fix that lean out condition yet? Wishing you the best for 550HP.
I'm looking at this set up or SC set up soon.

Nice thread ...

Mitco39 05-28-2013 08:54 AM

I ran a dedicated 16GA wire to the fuel pump and to the best of my knowledge (judging from the change in AFRs throughout the range) I think I am in the clear. Its hard to really run it up into the high rpms because 5th at 7k you are moving pretty fast and I am more concerned about the road in front of me.

I am planning a road trip down to Cali and if the specialty Z guys have time I hope to have them throw it on their dyno and run their tests to make sure that everything is ok. And if its not ill throw more at the fueling system to get it up to par. I mean I guess I could throw it back on their dyno here in the city and see where I am at. Its more of a time issue than anything.

I can tell you that I have had 0 issues with my setup running this tune and kit. Drives like stock till the boost comes on and then its like a rocket.

I also plasti dipped my spoiler over the weekend. I think it came out pretty good and it hides that scratch from the garage door opener.

What kind of hook did you use to get your gauges out?

Mitco39 09-24-2013 08:51 AM

So I was out driving a couple weeks ago and found out that a 6 Puck ceramic clutch does not like to be launched in 2nd gear, lol. I fused it to the flywheel as you can see in the teardown pictures. Also it appears that southbend updated their clutch design because this new clutch is supposed to be the same one but looks entirely different.

This clutch had about 5-6,000 miles on it, lol. For those of you worried about boosting your Z, she can handle it lol.

Is your turbo a journal or ball bearing out of curiosity?

And I also put some oil in her and fired it up!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps77124a70.jpg

I am going to piss some neighbors off, the girlfriend was 2 floors up showering and she heard the car start. Its not even that loud, just very deep. Its deep enough to rattle to lattice above the garage. I let it warm up fully while checking and finding a few oil leaks. Tightened up the fittings and they look to be good, but I would like to rev it to be sure (not something I can do in the garage, haha). I am going to finish wiring in the gauges (just have to wire in the modules, everything else is ran) and hook up the boost controller. Then I would like to take it for a burn before I put everything back on the front to make sure there are no further leaks.

Sooo excited. haha

Howd you get the aluminum insert out of the door? I haven't been able to get mine off.

TerribleONE 12-04-2013 04:44 PM

Cant see any of the pictures :( however awesome build regardless!

I drilled out the rivets its by far the easiest way to do it.

RZ14 12-08-2013 09:34 PM

I was under the impression that the window rail assembly was held in place by these rivets. Did tightening everything up in there rid you of any rattle in the window?

What are you up to this winter Mitch? Traction control arms? Solid motor mounts? Stiffer diff bushings? Hello kitty seat covers?....

I have no rattles at all and no ill effects of drilling out the rivets. If you are concerned you can simply just replace the rivets when you are done and it will be as good as new. Beats trying to get that window out of there.

Ill get some next time im out to see my car (its in storage for the winter). I will say that it turned out perfectly and does a good job at hiding the gash it got from my garage door last winter.

Not alot mark, the car is in storage and I only went to see it once just to check on her and fire it up. I will hopefully have a set of wheels on her by spring and maybe tint my tails just a bit. Depending on what goes on between now and spring I might also do minor body mods such as a lip and side skirts.

How about you? I look forward to seeing yours in the spring :tiphat:

wheee! 12-24-2013 09:57 AM

This is the big year for me! Getting the body kit and wing done. Wheels would be awesome but I think I blew my budget for this mod year....

Thanks man,

I actually own my own business specializing in EFI Live (Xtreme FX Tuning) and custom tuning them. Its my second Dmax, the first one was an 01 that I used to drag race and had a few mods done to that (built trans, lift pump, efi live). It ran 13s in the 1/4 mile. I since bought a 07 LBZ and have kept it stock minus a tune just so that I would not have to worry about it being reliable.

They are an awesome truck!

Mitco39 02-12-2014 09:33 AM

Not nearly as busy of a winter for me on the car this year, buttttt something did find its way to my door this week :D

I am going to do a better job at being nice to these tires. I wish that racelogic had a password I could get the girlfriend to set to keep me from turning it off. lol. One thing is for sure I am no longer doing 2nd gear burnouts.

So, you're starting in third gear for burnouts now? :roflpuke2:

Yeah, good one... I will believe it when I see it. On top of that, aren't you going to retune for more power/torque?
