Sooo I started (finally) wiring the car and cleaning it all up but am still unsure about where to mount both the traction control monitor and the boost controller. I am thinking these two spots;
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...pscf39c400.jpg This you can see through the steering wheel when driving and can easily change it, I currently have the cables ran to here. I will have to get some time behind the wheel to see if it really works. It has to be accessible to activate launch control, I was thinking about sticking it down by the shifter but there is nowhere where it would look like it was meant to be there. We'll see, it might end up down there yet depending on how this works out. As for the boost controller, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps359efb4e.jpg I am thinking about sticking it right beside the gauges, its easy to see and can easily be reached. The only issue could be securing it well enough so that when you touch the buttons it doesn't brake loose. Again very easy to relocate if its not working out. Anyone have any better ideas of where you would put these? I seen the traction control in the center console and glove box, but it would be too awkward I think to turn on launch control. Also my tires showed up last night. Tirerack FTW even up here in Canada. They ship UPS but take care of all the duty and taxes and everything on their end. So no bills or anything when they show up. Also they were by far the cheapest I could find. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psd31201b5.jpg |
Could you mount the traction control unit in the center console, as you will not be needing to see it every second?
The boost controller, do you need to see it constantly? I know many people have it hidden in the passenger cubby area so they can reach it but easily hidden. |

As far as the boost controller I am thinking I am going to use it as a boost gauge as well, that way I free up a gauge to monitor something else. I am assuming that the EVC will show a more realtime boost as the PLX gauge is routing in a air line from the engine bay. I know people will usually stick it right between the hazard and S mode buttons as well. |

I put my cell right on the forward right side of my shifter lever. My dash is not cluttered but its right there when I need it. This might work for you to... here is a picture from my build page. http://www.the370z.com/members-370z-...9-journal.html |

cheers!

Yeah, tough since you have the heated seat switches, can put one item there in the base.
Crazy idea, maybe wire it up to the headliner area where the two lights are? There is already a slight bulge but I am not sure how thick those two units are. |

Sub'd. Great build! Look forward to seeing where you put the boost and traction controls!
|
Thanks,
I spent an hr and a half today fighting with the wiring for the traction control, finally got it all together and tucked out of the way of the passengers feet. I am hoping to have it all together by the weekend, we will see if that happens. Seems everytime I plan to go work on it something comes up and I have to put it off. |
A Couple runs...
This is with the non resonated FI exhaust and the single blow off valve on the hot side of the intercooler. Little bit of Rev Limiter in this one. |
This is going to be such a fun car to drive this summer! Love the work you've done Mitch!
|
Thanks Mark,
It was my first real time taking it out on the highway this morning, it is pretty droney unfortunately but ill get used to it, the GF on the other hand, I guess we'll see. She doesn't have much choice, haha. Shes going in for 3M tonight after work at European auto tinting, which is why I took it in with me this morning. |
Maaaaan listen to that external wastegate!!
Lovely build |

At European, mention to Rob (Owner) that you are a member of the Z Car Club and were recommended to go there for a possible discount... I got my car done there too.... Plus check out the 3M DiNoc material he has there.... cool stuff to play with. I just did my door switch plates and it looks really good! |

Yeah, but it just sounds sooo good. James at the res pipes on his FI and he took them off. I am curious to see what he thinks of the noise difference in the car. I cant imagine what it would have been like without all the matting I put in the car. I will see if they will give me some sort of Z club discount, I am also going to make sure that they know I want the car stored inside and that they should not have the leave the lot with it. Just a wee bit nervous leaving it, the only other person that had it was Sasha. |
ummm.... I never leave the shop while it's being worked on.... anywhere I take it! lol
The resonation tubes get mounted at the canisters on the mufflers, not in the midpipe. Like I said, they are helmholz resonators like the grenades on my HKS... edit: Found the thread: http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...rks-great.html |
Nice vids Mitch.

Also thanks for the link, they just added a Helmholz to it. Which I may consider after I put some hours on the car.

Ah gotcha, yeah I will talk to the guys there, if I feel like I'm not comfortable ill just take it home. They did sound like a good shop over the phone, ill be sure to record my mileage and let them know that I have it written down. I know what you mean about the drone, I am the same way. I just am a little hesitant to hack up the FI exhaust that is all shiny and new. We'll see how it goes. I am hoping once it starts getting hot here that matting I put in will soften up and work even better. Maybe, maybe not. |
wow, lots of action in this thread, mitco

sounds awesome!

Sorry, thanks for the correction Adel. Ron is indeed the owner...!

They didnt think they could get the tint to stay on the rear tail lights, so ill probably just try and spray them myself. |
They tried to do the headlights for me with clear guard but it failed to mold without bubbles. Didn't even try the tails.
|
The bottle...small price to pay for some Scotchbrite 1080 matte CF that I used to wrap the centre console trim myself. Turned out really well.
Yup, I believe Ed had the same problem with bubbling on the tails. Both he and James got theirs sprayed. Talk to James...Ed might have used the same guy James used. |

I talked to James about his when I seen them, he just sprayed them himself. I just am not very good at spray bombing much of anything. I think I will give the plastidip tinting stuff a try and see how that comes out. Or if anyone knows anyone local in the city I would be more than happy to pay for a good job of painting them. :driving: |
Nonono, I paid someone to do it lol I said you could probably do them yourself. Its not that hard.
Ed had his done by my guy, can't remember how much he charged but I could find out. Sent from my SGH-T889V using Tapatalk 2 |

Oh I miss understood you then I thought you did them yourself. Well I like your guy's work, id happily get him to do mine if you want share the contact. haha. |
Fantastic build. Looking forward to seeing it completed.

Those lights look awesome on the black car. So sinister

Thank you sir, Raul did a good job.

Also I started tearing out and replacing my clutch and CSC. Went to Lowe's and spent about $100 on blocks, lol. Its redneck but this way I can do it myself and take my time. The jack actually ended up working better than I would have thought.

We have about 4 hours on it so far, and most of that was blocking the car up. I had to call it a day thought because I to not have a torx large enough for the flywheel bolts. Does anyone happen to know the size? I will do some searching here and will probably find it if its on this site.
For anyone wanting to do the same thing there is no need to jack the car as high as we did, turns out if you just pull the trans back in the tunnel there is no need to remove it from under the car. There is plenty of room to then sit in between the trans and engine and get at the clutch (and CSC). Mitch |
