What was the original date for it to be done ??
|
There was never a solid date, just a 3-4 month guesstimate from GTM, but we know how guesstimates work. I still won't be able to drive it for another 4 months, but just waiting for updates and results is slow torture!
Edit: Got an email today (4/3), didn't receive any real info, only they are fabbing some parts, which I already knew. I'm curious as to what they are. Added some pics to the first page. Here they are for reference. http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...apped-down.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...oil-cooler.jpg Next 3 are courtesy of Esfourteen in his FS thread. I bought them from him, so it was the best I can find of my actual headers :) http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...t-them-him.png http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...t-them-him.png http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...t-them-him.png http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...ide-header.jpg |
Not mine, my Pops ride. 11' GT track pack with the standard list of bolt ons, lowering springs, front lip, air dam, stripes, a mail tune and a ghost cam. In short, it's faster than my car lol... for now. Needs more tire, it was breaking loose in third gear, not just a chirp, but did not have traction until I either lifted or shifted. I believe they are 19x9.5's on P-Zero's.

I love the show that's on the tv in the pic. ;)
|
I saw that too... I was thinking to myself, "WTF is on his TV? Is that an arm, or leg, wait, I see tatas, not sure what's going on there.
|
The lip on the Mustang closely resembles the lip you like for the Z... if you made it a hell of a lot wider....is it made by Tamon Design :stirthepot:

Any new news ??
|
GTM says they should have news very soon from the email today. Mike says they are making very good progress. He emailed me rather than me asking him, which leads me to believe him correct.

Bored and found this gem. Probably one the most profound 15 seconds of my career. I spent 45 minutes trying to find something worthy to say to the man. All I can come up with was " It's a great honor to meet you Sir." As the picture was taken and I go to leave, he tightens his grip before release and says "No, the honor is mine." In that moment, my impression of being just another boot on the ground was changed. This was OEF 11 on 04July, just after he reenlisted 235 of us in KAF.
https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2786618_n.jpg Here is also some pics of my other hobby. This was my deployment PC lol Foxconn Bloodrage Motherboard Core i7 920 @ 4.2ghz GTX 560ti SLI @ 1000mhz (don't remember mem settings) 1000W PC Power & Cooling PSU 2TB Hitachi Drive 60GB SSD 6gb Tri Channel Corsair Dominator GT 2000mhz @ 7-7-7-20 1T Zalman CNPS 9900SMAX cooler Mountain Mods Bobslay V2 case I haven't updated her since 2010, except new cpu (980X). I plan on updating the GPU's and getting a USB3.0 and Sata 6G add in card. GPU's run about as fast as a single GTX 680. Processor is already overkill. 6gb ram may seem like a small amount, but when was the last time any of you used over 4gb? I'm getting 35gbps of bandwidth on a tri channel board on a first gen I7 design, so I'm content :) https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4110844_n.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7411122_n.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7236022_n.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3987521_n.jpg |
Behold!
http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...beiber-fan.jpg Mike took this 30 min ago (Thank you meta data). Yeah, I started screaming with excitement. I started rallying the Marines and coworkers and they laughed at me haha. I told them "You don't understand! I've been sending them @ss tons of money and this is the first pic of something I paid for on the car!" Totally elevated my day. |

Dude.... Now let me drive it so I can give a non biased opinion on it....

Awesome! Happy for you, and hey if it makes you feel any better we would have been dancing with you :happydance:

Appreciate the support. I think GTM is done with all the changes for 370Z adaption. Orestp was telling me GTM was working on the replacement of an AC hose as their last piece to figure out (they did). if the radiator is in place (looks like it is) and they found a way to mount the oil cooler with the FMICS, it doesn't look like this should be finishing up soon. I of course still have a million questions. I'll just try and sit tight.
Orestp will hopefully get his kit soon Edit: Looks like the stock radiator is still in there. I would imagine it to be easier to remove the stock radiator since it's being replaced anyways to mount those aluminum SC anchors. Just an observation. If it were CSF, I think I should still see the CSF logo and the blue radiator fluid would be cleaned off the corner. The stock manifold is still on. Not sure if they added the injectors yet. If they did, then not sure why they put the stock one back on. And this is what I do out of extreme boredom... After much deliberation and Wife input, thread and project name is changing. Took 3 weeks of back n forth debate, felt like we were naming a child haha. It's now called the Sophia Project, hopefully mods change the title soon. Edit: Triple's was lightning fast on the name change haha. I refreshed the page and was done. |
Project Sophia... I like it
Mine is after Natalie Portman... LOL |

Looking sweet bro beans. Nothing better than getting a pic of work completed after months of waiting and money spent. Very rewarding. I'm sure your co workers didnt get it lol I do it to mine too hahaha |
This day just keeps getting better... Special delivery mails from Mike@GTM! Things look to be moving quickly now. I still don't see the oil cooler, or a good pic of the radiator, but this is looking awesome. I can't wait.

I saw one of the SC oil coolers. The MHI kits and this one use the same IC's, so it's still accurate. |
Sweet, looking hot!!

Beast!

You know, something just hit me. Why doesn't someone make a sliding door for easy access to aftermarket intake systems mounted in front of the wheel well? They make vented ones. How difficult would it be to unscrew a couple fasteners and slide the piece out. Z speed made an undertray with a door for easy oil changes, this would make it easier than unbolting the wheel liner or removing the bumper.
|
idk... but you better patent that sh** before I do. Maybe after I sell a few I can get your build

OMFG this is awesome!!!

Edit: So far it looks to be in running condition. I wonder if they are going to go straight into tuning and documentation to speed up the timeline, then go back and install all the other goodies I sent them. So now that those intercoolers are installed, I'm really wondering how my oil cooler is going to fit. I'm kinda worried. I don't think it will fit behind the intercoolers with the radiator support beam there. I also don't know if it will fit up front without that tow hook block getting in the way. Maybe remove the tow hook and mount it to the crash bar? For reference, here is a link to the oil cooler pics http://www.the370z.com/members-370z-...ml#post2039795 Guess I'll just sit patiently and wait for the next update. |
What kind of oil collet do you have?

Maybe Sam can make you another bracket and just relate it with out adding let oil lines?

If push comes to shove, I'll replace it with two 25's, but it prove a difficult sell. Going resale is $700+ and it's worth every penny of that. I like having things sold before they are removed. This is one of those mods that is just overkill fir 95% of Z owners. I got it for the extreme desert heat.

Sick build! Thanks for your service. I find it amusing that many members here are also into computing/gaming. I purchased a new GTX Titan four weeks ago and it's still in the box. Course I purchased my Z a week later. The Titan can wait! I'll be keeping an eye on both your builds. Get home in one piece!

Got an update from Mike today. He told me they fired up the car and so far so good. I was thinking it might create a mini black hole, but thankfully that did not come to pass. They also got the JWT clutch, flywheel, and upgraded CSC installed as well. I inquired about the condition of my pulleys after removal for a potential sell.
"The NST alternator pulley is fine...the crank pulley, not so much. It has a gouge where we had to brace the pulley to keep it from turning while the crankshaft bolt was being removed (which was a bear to remove). The only way around that would have been to drop the motor to get a 1" drive impact gun on it...even then, no guarantees with aluminum crankshaft pulleys. You can probably grind it down a little where it's gouged, sand and paint it if you want to sell it in pristine condition. You're lucky, because we've seen a lot worse...we've had to resort to more destructive measures to remove them in the past." I really need to see what it looks like to see if I should sell in as is condition or make the cosmetic repairs and sell for slightly higher. I'm sure there is a bargain hunter that will pick them up regardless. Currently Simota has dibs from prior convo, so if he doesn't want it any longer after we see what it looks like, I'll make a FS post. So all in all, mostly good news. The pulley news was mostly expected, but also better than I had anticipated considering the horror's I've seen you youtube with their removal. I did ask about getting their sweet oil pan, but no answer on that yet. I also asked about gauges and anything they feel may be a very good idea I have. Nothing on that yet as well. I'll reengage in a couple weeks if it was forgotten. |
