Love reading updates. It's aboutthe only thing on this forum that's really happening right now.
Can't wait to get my clutch and flywheel on. |
This is the greatest thing to happen since the Model A. Well, maybe not, but damn close. In for updates and look forward to seeing the thing get finished and some dynos done.
|
Updates should really start coming in after the new year. Sticking with the JWT clutch and flywheel. Should be delivered after christmas. I have my wheels and tires chosen, as well as the coilovers. Saw Motordyne recently released a new set of sway bars. Debating whether I should get those.
Update: 16JAN- GTM still installing new equipment in their facility (new dyno). Haven't started work yet, but should in these next couple of weeks. |
I am really interested in the build your doing. I know your deployed right now which is good cause you have plenty of time. Are u just putting the supercharger on any internal mods?

If I for some Ungodly reason desire more power, the kit supports up to 800bhp, I'll have to build the motor and most likely upgrade the fuel system further. The nice thing about the twin SC system is the additional overhead and the packaging. I also spoke to GTM today, should be getting updates really soon. They just installed the Mustang Dyno and had my car on there... It wasn't impressive lol. Initial numbers are showing 270whp. They haven't emailed me the graph yet, and they are still learning the software as well. Running Windows 8 only makes the learning curve more difficult. Oh and for clarification, car is still the same from when I delivered it, no parts were installed when the dyno was done. |
270WHP... Brother, come to LA and take my car, lol
Or I can drive to you, take my car for a spin, lol |

If I were GTM, I would've lied, lol 7months is a lot of time though! I hope you get your 450-500WHP! |
Yeah, contracting job paying the bills. If I get 450whp on that Mustang dyno, I would be overjoyed after the a$$ whipping it just gave my car.

Work has started!!!

I do have a pic I linked below of some Z's including my own when we were helping our buddy move. http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...oving-crew.jpg Don't hate on my crappy camera or crappy camera man skills. |
:shakes head: You got me good with that first bit you bastad! :rofl2:

sub'ed for update...
|
Man, I'm tired of seeing everyone updates and my $hits been with GTM for 2 months. I have two dyno results and a picture to show for it. Things were supposed to start last month, didn't happen. Then this month, and we are already 1/3 of the way through... Nothing. I'm just venting. Wish I can at least see anything, something that shows work's begun. I understand why, I'm just being impatient. I'm trying to restrict my inquiries to bi weekly, but F'n A that's hard. I just want to fast forward, because this is worse than being a virgin at a strip club. I have no ill things to say about the process at all, it is what it is. It's like all the Fast Intentions guys waiting in line for their exhaust to be made. Hopefully I have something awesome to post by next weekend. It's exciting to see everyone else unveil their new toys and show the community new kits being introduced, I guess I want in on the action.
Edit: Yeah, refreshing my email about 100 times a day too. No bull$hit. It's a bad habit. |
Being patient is so hard, but most places will take advantage of you not bugging them. Its your right to do so.

We all feel your pain brother. I was the same way while I was out there in that place. Good thing was that I was working my buns off 18-20 hours a day most of the time, so I didn't have the time to hound Zerolift. When I had a boring/uneventful day (or some time off), I was going banannas...lol.
|
Well, Mike@GTM told me they have the car in the bay and tearing it down. Plan is to have it done in 3-4 weeks. I'll say 4-6 lol. Hopefully I have some engine pron to show. I'm running out of deployment material. I can only watch the same thing so many times!
In the mean time, GTM sent me the Mustang dyno sheet and a couple shots of her strapped down. http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...c-baseline.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...yno-shot-2.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/ss_fi...yno-shot-1.jpg M$#^$@#$%!#@!*%^ MY RIMS ARE DIRTY!!!!!!! |
man those rims at dirty jk
sure alot is shop dust, unless they are test driving and its brake dust. I have same car as you but you have way more performance mods, subbed for final dyno... |

I'm much more relieved knowing they are actually working on it. I can at least get updates of progress instead of waiting to start. BTW, how much more do HFC's cost to have them added to a F.I. exhaust? I'm debating 12 resonators" if I make an exhaust switch.
|
I believe its 480$ with the purchase of a cutback.
|
Is that on the exhaust it's self? I have LTH's.

I'm in an outpost in AFG. calling doesn't work well. Internet is great, but that's mostly because I'm the network engineer here.
Speaking of exhausts, I was reading a thread of some dude panicking about his ARK exhaust. I thought I'd share my feelings on mine haha. I still like my Tanabe Medallion. No fitment issue, no color issue, no packaging issue, no overpriced issue, no wait time, no ugly tips, no clearance issue, stock connection points... To one up that, it fit my Motordyne aftermarket Y pipe... perfectly, looked exactly the same, like it was meant for each other. Unfortunately I spent $1750 for it and another $160 for a resonator to play with. So in total, $1900ish. I don't know how lucky I would be trying to sell it. |

I'm hoping it restricts a bit. looking at my new dyno chart and comparing it to Nix's on the same dyno, same day... His was put back to stock for the run. I'm only making more power and TQ than he is after 5500rpm. He actually has slightly better bottom end. He posted his chart on the first page of his build thread. So it looks like I'm flowing too well, even with a HFC. I really don't know how the exhaust will handle 500whp (hopefuly), but I'm hoping enough pressure can be built to get these SC's in their efficiency zone. We'll see. That HFC is 3" and 200 cell, it's pretty free flowing.

So my Wife say's I need to find a way to make money on this hobby. Any ideas? She does web design, so she wants to take on a project to build me a blog page.

I think most of us are in the same boat on that one, i know i am. :driving: |
Trying to get pictures. Tear down is almost complete. Mike didn't realize how large my oil cooler was. Sent them my ROM files from Uprev, installation starts next week. Again, here is a list of what's being installed"
GTM Twin C30 supercharger system Z1 SP slotted Rotors Stoptech Brake pads Z1 Stainless brake lines ATE super blue brake fluid Z1 hood struts CSF Radiator (edit: didn't fit) Z1 red polyurethane engine bay hoses (edit: kit comes with it's own) Motordyne M370 intake manifold (edit: decided to sell) JWT clutch and flywheel Z Speed upgraded CSC, and stainless clutch line Oil change using Redline 5W30 Motordyne resonator for the Xyz Y pipe (I will be dyno testing and sound testing vs the HFC [also installing myself when I get home]) Stuff that is already on the car: PPE black ceramic coated long tube headers AEM CAI (removed) NST Pulleys (removed) Motoydyne XYZ Y pipe with 200 cell 3" HFC Tanabe Medallion mid pipe back exhaust AE performance 72 row oil cooler (removed) Uprev tuner version Everything is staying on the car except the CAI and pulleys because they cannot be used with the superchargers. I have tentative buyers for both of them already :) The oil cooler is the big question. It's a front mounted where the intercoolers sit. It may need to be played with to fit or the intercoolers moved forward and crash bar removed. Something is going to give and I'd rather not pay extra money for a new oil cooler. Edit: Made annotations to what is being removed or not installed anymore. Listed below are additions. GTM 70mm Competition Radiator GTM Shroud with 14" H.O. SPAL Fan GTM Twin Oil Coolers (25 row I believe) GTM Oil Pan |

btw just saw the: My Wife said it was Okay haha read that after I told my wife how jealous I was  |
Haha, it's a give and take relationship. Everything requires bargaining. She wants something, I want something... What can we do to get what we both want, be able to pay the bills, feed ourselves and meet any goals we made. She understands I love the car, I was unhappy about a few things and allowed me to get some great black Friday deals. The GTM thing came by complete surprise and was going to happen much later this year. Somehow the stars aligned. I have a job that can allow me to do this, a Wife that allows the same, and GTM asking me (I pitched it to them with my fingers crossed) to finish out the twin kit. To say I'm grateful doesn't even come close to what I really feel. My Wife is supportive to a point and she does say no quite frequently. The rims... she is still thinking about, the coilovers, I haven't tried to approach, and the differential, she knows about, but I can't quantify the replacement yet.
BTW, I want to change the name of the thread to Project (something)... But I don't have a project name lol. |
I just call mine project money pit.. I feel like no matter how much I do, I always have something else I want to add to the list. Cant wait to get our rides together in vegas. And sometime you have to come out to socal and drive some real roads!
|
Ohhh MMM GEE..., I just read your build thread (yes...the whole thing), I am subscribed... I know what that can't sleep because i am too excited feeling... Feels like when I was waiting to those brakes installed... Either way... When she comes out... It would have been well worth the wait...
|
when do you return home again?
|
Thanks for the support :). I come home some time in August. Most likely towards the end. I'll be in So Cal to get he car from GTM, and it being so close (except crap drive through the desert) I'm sure I'll find time to play in the roads.
