thanks man!!!!! repped you buddy :D

Today I am heading back to Nissan to watch the tech adjust and set the vvel and timing on the car. Setting the vvel is a long procedure that has to be followed in order to ensure the intake side is running correctly and has the correct amount of voltage going to the actuator motors. This is a great lesson that if your battery is registering to low of a voltage even though it starts and runs the check engine light will come on and throw a vvel code due to not be able to maintain the correct voltage to the dc motors that controls the vvel.

Huh. Interesting. Good to know

How are things going?

Navyboy916 01-31-2013 01:44 AM

I just got my car back from the dealership and I must say without it actually tuned this car is a beast. The power has to continue past redline. I will say though without a tune right now the low end is not great and of course that combined with the gas pedal delay sucks but of course I will get that worked out. The VVEL screams so loud when engaged. I am deploying tomorrow so I wont be able to work on it for a couple of months but I will try to get a video tomorrow before I leave. I will keep everyone updated with the tune and future mods.

Mr&Mrs 01-31-2013 02:54 PM

Please get video before you go!

ts-c63 01-31-2013 02:58 PM

That being said, going forced induction adds weight (which some people care about) and more components to break/replace later on in life.

good point! thanks!

Thank you for the updates. and thank you for your service. stay safe

Navyboy916 02-26-2013 09:18 AM

I am still on deployment. I will be back to driving my car in june or early july. My next duty station is going to be Hawaii so i can really get the car tuned nicely there

KaienZ34 02-26-2013 11:38 AM

Loving this, sub'd...

diddy535 02-26-2013 01:15 PM

In for results

Navyboy916 02-26-2013 07:56 PM

i just received word that my ARC reservoir tank has come in and waiting for me. I will be doing a lot of runs and getting it etuned through uprev when I get back. I will post many videos as I get the air/fuel dialed in and uprev changes the parameters for the bigger cams and shift points.

diddy535 03-29-2013 11:17 AM

Hey sorry if someone asked this but how was the NVH with the new motor mounts?

Navyboy916 03-29-2013 06:25 PM

Nvh?

MaDMaXX 03-29-2013 08:00 PM

Noise, vibration, harshness.

Navyboy916 03-29-2013 08:46 PM

Oh there is a difference I can say that but it's not extreme as people say is it. I like the mounts and see less flexing of the motor when accelerating.

Navyboy916 04-17-2013 04:50 AM

So I was searching for more parts today and happen to stumble upon this. I have found my next upgrade and its going to be the Bored out JUN throttle bodies. If you notice to they created a new camshaft profile which is more aggressive then the ones I have in my z. JUN AUTO - NISSAN FAIRLADY Z 370Z / Z34 / VQ37VHR - PRODUCT INFORMATION
Check it out
I can't wait to get off deployment and send them my throttle bodies. I have contacted them for a turn around time on the throttle bodies so hopefully it will be quick. If it is I will just have the throttle bodies pulled off while I am out on deployment and sent so when I get back I will have them already.

diddy535 04-17-2013 10:38 AM

I'd be curious about a throttle body. Only other one I think is out there is Impul's which is like 3200 if you don't send your own. I've been looking into doing an NA build myself and a throttle body upgrade is definitely up there. FWIW megan370z took out the throttle bodies and bored them out himself. Could give him a shout because that's really what these aftermarket ones offer and if you can do it yourself you'd save some serious money.

Another thing to consider maybe the okada Coilpacks? I've seen them as low as 1167 shipped.

I forget, did you do a lightweight flywheel too?

edub370 04-17-2013 08:11 PM

$1000+!! :icon14:

haha is that for the throttle body or coilpacks?

FWIW OEM throttle body size is 60mm and these aftermarket ones are boring those out to 62mm, not sure what the results are.

edub370 04-17-2013 08:32 PM

For The tb's

Navyboy916 04-18-2013 12:09 AM

I know i can take them to a machine shop and have it done for a lot cheaper but I know JUN does great things and have been doing this type of work for a long time and its not just about boring the throttle bodies out they change the internal out as well. I received the email from JUN today explaining in full detail what they will do when working on the throttle bodies.

Silo 04-18-2013 02:21 AM

Did I miss the results of the Jun exhaust cams?

boarderbob 04-18-2013 12:18 PM

When I first joined this community I began to wonder about the N.A. possibilities, and I haven't seen a whole lot of with F.I. being so readily available. Amazing build. Awaiting your safe return for more N.A. fun. :)

370Z JT 04-19-2013 12:59 PM

Can you post what JUNs email? what they will do to the TB besides bore?

Hey everyone I am in Japan now for a little bit here is what is all over here

///PureSwank 05-14-2013 12:24 AM

Dude, take a dishonorable discharge and come finish your build. What is your setup cost at as of right now? Just p.m. me if you want. I'm thinking about going N/A as well. Motor lives longer.

Navyboy916 05-14-2013 12:50 AM

LOL my deployment is almost over and so I will be back to my Z in a couple of weeks. I have to lay everything out and create a list of everything I had done to the vehicle. Give me a day so i can figure it all out with parts and labor and shipping. I really want to get the my data sent to UPREV to get them to give me an Etune cause the idle has to be raised due to the cams.
