So I shouldn't be allowed to have my phone when I'm in bed and I can't sleep, because I tend to start browsing things on Amazon. Installing the Swift springs gave me the mod bug all over again after I had worked so hard to settle down and not spend money for the time being. I bought a smoked Evo-R foglight off of a member here, and a 1000w 12" Alpine R DVC 4ohm sub off of Amazon for a pretty good price. I've got a Kicker 400w amp, so I should be able to wire it to run at ~900w at 2ohms. Can't wait to get them in!

My only concern is that the foglight is gonna be kinda dim in the day time, I love super bright lights, and I've seen a few videos of the evo foglight and they weren't really all that bright. Plus my buddy just got one and again, it was alright. I want something that is the same intensity as the brake lights when you hit them. I just saw a pic on Simota's journal of the Tamon foglight, that thing is pure sex. I might have to go check it out if it works with stock bumpers.

It looks like things are coming along nicely. I love the exhaust setup, that's the route I'm leaning towards. Can't wait to see some wheels on your beast. :)

Huck 04-12-2013 01:09 AM

Haha thanks bro, "slow and steady" seems to be my motto when it comes to modding. My wife and I are not poor at all, but we don't have $4000 extra every month to put into our cars, so I do a lot of side jobs to get mod money, anything from home remodeling to headlight restoration to mod installs, you name it and I know at least a little about it. This last month and a half has been decent, I've done 3 sets of headlights, a Stillen intake install on a friend's 370, some repairs on my neighbors house and boat, and a few other things. We'll see what happens with the wheels, I still have a couple options. Hopefully it won't be too long of a wait...

There's nothing wrong with taking your time. That's what I'll have to do.

Have you decided on which wheels?

Huck 04-12-2013 08:59 PM

Yes I have! Say hello to the beautiful Avant Garde M368...

Well, here's my next update. I got a smoked Evo-R fog light from WillClemenson who's a member on the forum, and an Alpine Type R 12" sub off of Amazon.

I like the fog light, but it's pretty dim for my tastes. I'm trying to figure out of there's a way to up the brightness of the LED's without burning them out. Any suggestions?

The sub is amazing. Holy crap is it loud and crisp and clean. Plus it has a better range than my crappy old Xplode sub did.

Here's a few pics of the installs :)

man those alpines are freaking clean as hell  great job dude :)

Huck 04-17-2013 09:26 PM

I've only got 400w going to mine, it handles 1000w rms. that might make a difference, idk. It could be that it's just not getting enough power? It's supposed to be responsive from 25-200Hz (well mine is at least).

Thanks Simota, I agree! I've always had a thing for Alpine speakers, they sound great and are relatively inexpensive. Great quality too.

I like that wheel choice. I can't decide between the M368 or the M310. Further I can't decide on a finish. What about you?

That Alpine looks a lot slicker in there too. :)

Huck 04-18-2013 09:49 AM

Lol the wheels weren't a problem for me, A log of people are going with the 310 and while I like it, I don't like it nearly as much as the 368. It's something different that you don't see on the Z all the time. Everyone seems to have the 310 style wheels or the Volks or the sport rays. I'm going with Dolphin Grey cause I feel that will match the carbon fiber I'm planning a little better than just flat black, plus it shows more detail in pictures whereas flat black is hard to get a good shot of. My only dilemma is whether to go 19" or 20".

Huck 07-01-2013 12:48 AM

Well, nothing too major to report as of late, the only think I've done was get Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires put on the rear since I went through my Hankook V12's in less than 6,000 miles. I'll never get those tires again, they had no grip at all. I would try to start in first normally at a light and spin the tires. They lasted less than 6 months, biggest waste of $450 ever.

Anyway, I love the PSS's, they're an amazing tire. I got them just before I went to Zdayz and couldn't shake the *** loose no matter what.

I also got a ticket at Zdayz when I wasn't even speeding, 63 in a 30, so as soon as I got home I found a good deal on an Escort 9500ix. I looked at the Blendmounts for it, but I couldn't justify $80 on a piece of plastic, so I followed the instructions I found HERE and it worked like a charm. I'll post up a couple of pics tomorrow. I'm gonna go watch flash gordon.

car sounds good!! im thinkin of getting some FI LTH

Huck 07-02-2013 08:34 PM

Thanks Tony! I would say it depends on what kind of sound you're looking for, whether or not your car is a DD, and how much volume you can tolerate.

I wanted the highest gaining mods possible, that's why I did the LTH instead of test pipes, for the few extra hp. The lth's have a slightly meaner sound that I LOVE. There is a fair amount of drone in the 2200-2400rpm range, I put some sound deadening material in the hatch and doors which helped a lot (talk to pintsize for a good deal on it), but it's still pretty loud in the cabin. If you don't mind a really loud exhaust or a bigger hole in your bank account, I'd say go for it. The quality is beyond amazing and the customer service is second to none.

Picture bump! Finally got the homemade blend mount all set up and installed.

Attachment 72412

I'm pretty happy with it. The only thing I wish was different was that the mount was metal, so that it was more rigid. Sometimes when you hit a bump or something the radar will shake ever so slightly. It's not really a big deal in the long run.

On another note, I sold my wheels, so I have a little money to play with. Now the problem, I can't figure out what I want to buy lol. I have about $1400 to spend, should I buy a big item, like the Raptor front bumper from carbon signal, or a carbon fiber hood, or maybe get the amuse rear and spoiler? Or should I get a bunch of smaller things? I'm thinking maybe a touchscreen HU, alpine VR9 5 channel amp, moddiction shift knob, DA buffer, and a pressure washer to wash the car. I also want wheels and an Akebono BBK lol. Totally can't decide. I'm going crazy.

That's a pretty good list man! Sounds like you're making a bit more money than me haha, it'll be a while before I can afford all that.

I would be all about the Shine Auto lip, but two friends of mine with 370's have it already, so I'm gonna go with something different.

I'm considering vented fenders, I like the look of those a lot.

When I get the akebono BBK I'll have them powdercoated pearl white :)

For the Evo-R mirrors, do you lose the motor to adjust them from the door switch? That's one thing I've never been clear on.

I like the look of the TK shift knob, but I cant justify $300+ on a knob lol.

Here's some of the items that I'm considering...

Amuse rep rear bumper and spoiler in CF...

Carbon Signal Raptor front bumper in CF...

VIS terminator hood CF everything painted PW except for the middle slats...
http://www.zshop.ca/wp-content/uploa...od-370z-09.jpg

Or should I get an Akebono BBK?

Or should I get a bunch of small things? I'm thinking a 7" touchscreen HU, an Alpine VR9 5 channel amp, a Moddiction titanium shift knob, a Meguiare's DA buffer, a pressure washer to wash and suds the car, and mod my headlights (blackout, quad projectors, quad halos, quad demon eyes)

Entirely too many options, I'm gonna go crazy lol.

I actually run a small business on the side which funds most of my mods. I also found a great new source of income. I've been making how-to videos on YouTube and monetizing them. I'm making almost enough money each month to completely pay my car payment.

Huck 07-04-2013 11:26 PM

Dude I think I'm doing something g wrong because I thought I monetized my videos but I haven't gotten a cent from them, and I have a few thousand views total. I've been wanting to do the same thing, how to videos for our Z's. I also do headlight restoration on the side, but the only jobs I get right now are by word of mouth, I need to make up some business cards and start handing them out all over the place.

The key to making money on YouTube is doing videos that can have good targeted ads in them. Make sure you open it up to all kinds of ad types too. It really takes tens of thousands of views to make any significant money. I have one video that's done like 75,000 views in 2 months. Two or three like that with the right kind of content and you can make $400 a month easily.

Honestly Zdayz is the only time I really need pure performance mods, so they're not super high on my list. I want a BBK, wheels and seats, and that's really all I need for track-oriented things. I'm really more about looks since the car already performs pretty well for my tastes. If it was a dedicated track car things would be different, but right now eye candy is what I want lol :yum:

I would get the thing you like the best or the biggest purchase item. Get those big items out the way you aways can save for the little things. if you track I would start with brakes.. I dont track that is why I have dumped twin turbo money in cosmetics..

Well something weird just happened. I went outside to get something out of the Z and looked at the plastic slats in the grill. all of the sudden I hated them, so I pulled out my sawl-zawl and cut it all out. Now I need to find some good looking mesh cause I have a huge open mouth in the front of my Z. Then I went to the hatch to get the item and the hatch got stuck, I had to push the button twice to get it open. Next thing you know I've ripped out all the interior plastic on the lid and pulled out that stupid weight, then I put it all back together. Opens fine for now.

Attachment 72476

One question. Does anyone know how to fix the two little holes on the sides of the mouth where the slats were? I was expecting that to be smooth lol. Now I gotta patch it somehow.
