:iagree: it's the same motor in all 4 years, so it's the same pulley. Go for it! Now that I know how to do it I could do it a lot faster than I did this one. Just don't make a rookie mistake like I did and forget to put the clamp back on your radiator hose. That way the hose won't come off and spray a gallon of coolant all over your engine bay.
The dealership was pretty helpful though, I had fixed everything except for the SES light, so I took it to them to clear it. Instead, they wrote that I had a hose leak and replaced the hose, flushed the system, and then cleared the SES light. Awesome guys. Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new-fangled science stuff |

Alright, I've been slacking with the updates, so here's a few all at once :)
First I received and installed my FI headers and holy hell was it a PITA. Finally got it all done and everything, and they sound amazing. Here's a quick clip I made, I'm still gonna take the car out one day and do drive by's and take off's and stuff. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...t/2de04b82.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...t/a1797efd.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...t/04c2e5ea.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...t/fc5a7bb2.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...t/371d1733.jpg After installing the headers I took it to White's Import Automotive for an Uprev tune. I won't be going back to him, he knows cars and stuff, but when it comes to tuning he was really conservative, he kept saying that the stock tune was the best and he shouldn't be messing with it. So he didn't really do all that much for me, I dyno'd the baseline at 299hp and 245tq. He spent about 35-40 minutes tuning and I ended up making 308hp/256tq. Part of the reason for the low numbers was that it was 100.1 degrees in the tuning bay. Anyway, here's a quick vid of that... After that I got some GTmat sound deadening material, and installed it in my hatch. It cut out about 4-5 db on average. I'm pretty happy with it so far and when I have some more spending money I will be ordering some more. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...46E29AE473.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...46CF04061D.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h9...46B94DFC46.jpg For the next thing I don't have any pics to show you. I have been coming home from work and (if it wasn't raining from Isaac) going straight to work on the speakers I got from NYBladez. He bought a set of Alpine components that you can see here and then sold his Z before he could install them. So instead of paying $300 for the speakers and another $25 for the adapters, he sold me everything for $135 shipped. Brand new in an unopened box. I got them installed the other night, the tweeters were a PITA because of that stupid door molex thing, it was hard to snake the wires through it. But I finally got it all done and they sound amazing, even with out an amp. 100x better than the stockers. That's about all for now, I might not be modding for a little bit, I had some unexpected expenses come up and I had to put all my mod money that I had saved aside into the bank to pay for stuff :shakes head: on the other hand, I just got some more materials in for headlight restoration which I've started doing on the side, and I have 4 people lined up so that will be a little extra cash, and I might have a side job coming up for some home renovation, so that will DEFINITELY be money in the pocket :) until then, take care chaps! |
nice mods man!!!!
|
Haha thanks Simota, I know I can always count on you for a few nice words. Your ride is looking pretty sexy herself :)

haha no problem man.... :D i enjoy seeing people piece together their Z's
|
This wasn't really a mod, but yesterday after work I spent about 3 hours washing, claybarring, waxing, and detailing my car. She needed it, the claybar pulled up a fair amount of stuff. I also tried buffing out some scratches I've acquired with some success. I'll post some pics in a bit :)
|
Looking good man! Where's that drive by video you promised now that you're tuned? :p
|
Actually, I MAY do that tomorrow, finally a day free :)
|
looking nice!! reminds me to finish my install of some Dynamat..

Car looks good, you've got top quality performance parts on there, nice! Really liking the CF mufflers, whats next, wheels?

I'm gonna take a break for a while, money is a tad tight right now since we had some unexpected bills come up. I'm trying to get a new job working for a corporate AT&T store, the pay is great and you can move up pretty quickly. My buddy started there about 4 months ago and he's making over $4000 a month, over $3000 take home. Better than what I'm making here so I'm gonna try to switch over. If I get the job, Avant Garde M368's will be in the near future :)

Hey Huck! Glad to see your Z is coming along nicely!!! I thought I was done with my Z but I keep itching to get the LTH. Since we had the same CBE and CAI I was wondering if you could tell me if the LTH increased cabin noise at all. I don't want the cabin noise any louder than it is, it is liveable now but I want to be able to hold a conversation without yelling at my passenger. Thanks in advance for the info! And keep up the good work!
|
Love the video's.. Car looks and sounds great.. Good job man!!!:happydance:

Finally, if you're ever in the Merritt Island/Cocoa Beach area, you're more than welcome to come check it out in person! Quote:

 love it bro!
|
Thanks Huck! I think I'll leave the setup as is...talking on my bluetooth thru nav is almost impossible too.
|
I don't know how the stock nav is closet up, I've never used one, but my head unit has an external mic that's sitting right underneath my rear view mirror. When I had just the exhaust it wasn't a problem at all. I would say that my headers just about doubled the volume inside the cabin.

Well I finally got to buy my Swifts and install them. The install wasn't too bad, compressing the Swifts was a PITA but other than that it's pretty straight forward. While I was wrenching on the strut nuts in the engine bay my swivel bit and socket came off and fell down in the depths of the motor somewhere. I searched for like 20 minutes to no avail, that shyte is gone. :icon14: Anyway, the car handles like a champ now and feels a lot smoother over all. Here's a few pics of the drop after a few days, I might have another 1/4" before the springs completely settle. We'll see...

Or do I continue trying to sell the ones I have so that I can afford the ones that I'm in love with, the Avant Garde M368's? Decisions decisions... |
Looks great man! Which wheels do you have now?

Thanks Blades, I've got 20" 5AD S5:F wheels right now. I like them but I don't LOVE them.

If the cost difference isn't much, I'd go with the ones you actually like.

If you can make up most of the difference, then just go for the ones you like.
|
lookin good man! love the sound of that exhaust
|
@ blades, yeah that's what I'm hoping to be able to do.
@ Jason, thanks man me too haha. I have had it for a year and I can't count how many compliments I've gotten on the exhaust alone. It sounds so mean! Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new-fangled science stuff |
Do you have spacers on your wheels I looked threw your build and didetn see anything about it but your wheels look so flush with your fenders
|
Nope, no spacers. They're not flush, I'll have to get a better pic of them from the side of the car so you can see better. I don't really feel like spending money on spacers when I plan on getting wheels with aggressive offsets, maybe +12/+15 or so.
Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new-fangled science stuff |
I agree with you It just looked very flush with the fender and I've never seen stock rays look like that but ya just the angle more than likely
|
That's probably it. I have just the base 18's, you can look in my Random album and see a pic that I posted of my headlights next to the headlights of a MB 370, and you can see the wheels pretty well there.
