CSF needs to fix that leak problem, good company, but that's getting old fast. I've heard of a few leaking at the same place. I hope mine holds up! It performs great.

I just had to swap mine out. Holding up fine so far. My old one leaked a bit from the drain plugs. I chalked it up to the crappy rubber washers they used. And then I broke the upper plug off trying to replace said washer, so it became time for a new core.

Yeah, they need to get it resolved, the plus side is it is fully under warranty as long as I own the car. I just have to go through who I bought it from (Z1) instead of CSF directly so, currently have to get the rad out, take pictures, then wait.

Charles customer service is the best hands down. Guy supplied detailed pics for me, 24/7 txt message support and a quality product. For years and years he has been my number 1 in fuel systems and never fails. Thanks CJM for another bad *** product. Attention to detail is what we all want when building a car and his delivery is spot on!

With regard to CSF, I had to change mine out as well (making this one number 3). They blamed the leak in my motor mounts, saying that the motor moved too much under load which cause the radiator to flex and fail in that area behind the upper neck. I have solid mounts now, so lets see how that works out when/if I have another leak in that area.

I've had solid mounts for sometime, maybe thats why I havn't seen the leak. I'll keep an eye out for it. Good info!

Not calling you out but this sounds like BS from CSF. The radiator is not connected directly to the motor except by two very flexible hoses. The only way I could see putting flex into the radiator is if the frame twisted under load. If that's the case I would expect that to be worse with stiffer mounts not better. Sounds likes CSF is grasping at straws. Shame cause the only other options are Mishimoto and GTM. One has huge QA/QC issues and the other is very questionable if they'll ever ship it to you.

I just installed mine on Friday so hopefully I'll have good luck.

O&G 03-18-2014 09:54 AM

I will not allow anyone to use Mishimoto! I will hunt you down and take it off your car! CSF is a stand up company and I know they're working on a solution, because I've seen them cover at least 5 radiators for the 370 in Houston alone. Money strait out of their pocket. Lets all keep our fingers crossed! On the other hand you could have JTran just fab you up a new radiator, he did a killer inter-cooler and radiator setup earlier this week!

****, Ravi at CSF made me pay for the new core. It was dirt cheap, but he didn't cover a damn thing. I was three weeks out of warranty the first time I called him.

Well that sucks, sorry to hear that man! I hope they've remedied the situation w/ the radiator by now!

So far so good. We'll see how well it holds up. Half my problem was my fault, so I'm not too sore about it.

I'm not putting Mishimoto crap on my car.

If Nissan hadn't been such cocksuckers to include the A/C coil as part of the radiator I'm sure we would have more options. Of course I probably just cursed myself to get a leak since I just installed Friday.

Wait...I thought the CSF radiator had a lifetime warranty if you are the original owner?

2 years per Ravi. The same through the point of purchase (Z1).

Interesting, because I was told years ago when I bought it that as long as I owned it and did proper maintenance it would be warrantied.
Well if that is the case I am going to be pissed off in a few days then.

Maybe you're grandfathered in, but I've never heard anything of the sort from anyone that was involved in my purchase or replacement.

I don't know, I will find out soon when I get it out and send pictures off to Z1.
It may have just been said because this was in 2010 when they first came out and were new, so trying to make a sale.

That's possible, I bought mine 12/11. I would be in contact with Ravi to make sure of that if I were you.

theDreamer 03-18-2014 11:12 AM

Found some details on other forums, looks like their website was updated (CSF) to remove the wording, "lifetime warranty." Even back in the day it really had an end date on it apparently, they just hoped no one would get to it after a few years.

:bowrofl: Lifetime or a couple of years, whichever comes first.

Even without the warranty, the replacement cost he gave me was good enough to make me feel pretty good about their customer service. Especially since me shearing off the upper plug wasn't really a manufacturer defect.

Well time to find out once I get a call the radiator is out and I can go get it to take pictures.

What was the price of just the replacement part needed? I might end up having to just do that which will suck and eat it other stuff but need a radiator with summer coming.

After doing the swap myself, I completely support your farming that job out to someone else. :rofl2:

Yeah, Jason did the original install and said he can do it quickly even with all the intercooler and other parts in the way.
If it was just a hose or something I would jump it but after seeing you doing it now I will pass.

Chuck33079 03-18-2014 11:24 AM

I'm sure there's a faster way than the way I did it. I'm sure I took off a lot of crap that wasn't really in the way. I also did a lot more than just swapping the rad. Still an unpleasant job for sure.

Oh, how is your thermostat holding up so far, see any changes?
Since all this is coming out, thinking maybe throwing it might be worthwhile, since it is an "OEM" part.

No clue. Seems to warm up just as fast, and it's still cool enough out so I have no idea if it works. I'm sure it will have some effect, but I've changed too much at once to know for sure what did what. It's less than $30, so you might as well do it.

You going to tackle that install yourself? LTH and SC will make that a bitch I would think

I no longer have the LTH, just stock exhaust manifolds and TP now.
I think the transmission should be easy but the engine mounts will require a lift make it easier. Going to search the forum and see if anyone has done it themselves with a SC or TT setup yet.

With a TT kit there's piping right where you need to be to get access to the mounts.

Yeah, the TT kit is probably harder, where with the SC the intake piping is like have a stillen gen 3 really. The passenger side is a bit trickier since you have the SC unit near the headers.

O&G 03-18-2014 04:10 PM

Progress report. Turbo piping almost done....rims mounted on 305s. JTran obviously stayed w/ the low mount setup!
