Over in the Takeda intake thread, intake temps were brought up again (about shielding the intake from hot things like the radiator hose), and that reminded me to hurry up and get busy on shielding my Stillen setup (parts been laying around forever). So I did that tonight.

This is the overall view of the bay now:



I used Thermo-Tec's intake air tube shield. I bought two of them. You could probably almost get away with just a single one if you cut everything perfect the first time, but I used the extra to do lots of trial and error on cutting and fitting around the MAS blocks and the breather tubes:



I also used some 2" DEI Cool Tape to seal things up at the top by the throttle bodies, since the thermo-tec shield has a hard time with that final bend into the TB:

It's really a pretty easy job, took about 1.5 hours start to finish to do some initial measuring, test-cut some peices, adjust and recut some new peices based on those, install everything, lace it up, put on the DEI tape up at the top, etc. I did this with the intake installed, so the shielding stops at the radiator support holes (no shielding on the tube sections under the bumper). Obviously I did it in two peices on each tube, one peices for the upper tube, and one for the lower. It's much easier that way, and the silicone elbows are probably already reasonably resistant to heat, or at least won't trap and transmit it like the metal tubes do.
