I know you guys are serious, and it will probably work, but I'm still laughing.

you really cant compare without getting on the same dyno....but if your car were much lighter than his and you had a really good launch it would be possible to beat him even with less power...

Works great in the oven.. can't imagine a hot engine bay would be any different.

Ok spearfish.. get a cassarole together, throw it on the engine, hook your themometer up and get to driving already! two birds with one stone!

I'm driving up to our 'Supercar Saturday' car show in the AM. Definitely going to use the ol' thermometer to see the engine bay temps. Prepare to be dazzled people. Hell, I'll even make an HD video for you with my iPhone 4 .

Uh yeah, postponed due to holiday weekend craziness. The honest answer is that I was so excited to get up to the supercar event that I forgot the thermometer. As I pulled into the parking lot, it dawned on me that I had completely forgotten. I even had it out on the kitchen counter. Yes, spearfish dropped the ball. I'll post up some info as soon as the holiday festivities settle down. Nothing planned Monday so I'll do a little test then.

Engine bay temp update.

So there's nothing quick about trying to test these engine bay temps. I did a reading after a 2hr drive in 90F weather (parked the car in my garage). I placed the temp probe on top of the cam cover which seemed like a logical place for relative engine bay temps. With the A/C off and oil temps of ~215F, the probe read 171F. I switched the AC back on (and accessory radiator fan activated) and the temp slowly started to tick back down...however it was a slow process and I lost interest after about 5 minutes at 168F. I'll do it again when I have more time to see where it settles out.

Thanks Spear, I'm interested to see how mine are with the SC. Probably a good bit higher than your 170F. I was hoping to get real time driving temps since that's what really matters.
