R888's nice.

I was going to go with those but I got a real cheap set of Nitto NT01's which should be just as good.

That's a possibility. Might want to top it off almost to the top, I did on mine.

Umm...how do you know this? I mean, it's not like you can see your brake lights while you're driving/accelerating, right?

He's talking about the BRAKE light that's on the dash that illuminates when either the parking brake is clicked on or the brake fluid is low.

RCZ 05-14-2009 05:16 PM

yup^

Also...Mike from DDM told me that Toyo owns Nitto. The R888 and the NT01 are the same compound, the only difference is that R888 has much better sizes available...

Glad someone got it.
So how do you feel about your car now, do you feel power wise it is complete? Next plans on the list?

RCZ 05-14-2009 08:53 PM

XXX Racing Fuel Gains 14whp on Stock 370Z : Injected Performance Blog

We had a chance to test XXX Racing Fuel’s new 138 oxygenated blend in our Nissan 370Z. After making a few pulls to get a consistent baseline on our 370Z (260whp), we added 5 gallons of oxygenated XXX race gas. The result was 274whp, an impressive 14whp gain.

Not the same race gas that rcz put in his z.

RCZ 05-14-2009 09:25 PM

wtf?

ChrisSlicks 05-14-2009 09:32 PM

Those are impressive gains for just fuel, it implies that the car is able to up-tune itself. It may continue to advance timing until it detects a knock.

Yeah not great choices for tire size on the NT01's. The ones I picked up are 275x18, 315x18. The 315's look downright huge, should look nice on the Forgestar wheels.

travisjb 05-14-2009 10:00 PM

I plan to go w/ 315 rears too... I've got an extra set of slightly used 285 18" r888s in my garage... when i get my forgestars, wonder if I can re-use those on the front of this car? might be pushing it just a little too far, perhaps

They will fit fine on the 9.5" rim. 285 front would have been my preference as well.

travisjb 05-14-2009 10:42 PM

thanks... more worried about fender rub than wheel fit... or catching something on the inside... I'll go back and check, but I recall DannyGT rubbing on the inside - can't remember size/offset right now

DannyGT 05-14-2009 11:03 PM

+22 with 275s at any lower than I am right now and it WILL rub. I think a 275 should fit just fine with a higher offset and will still look awsome...

Main problem for me was this wheel was only available in this offset at this size...I'm rolling in the front fenders tomorrow so we shall see how it all works out. I'm still debating on going with a 265 for the front because the current setup leaves the front about 12mm taller than the rear and I wanted the height to be ~equal. I double checked and if I do that it will be identical heights..

travisjb 05-14-2009 11:24 PM

Ok, thanks Danny... Great looking wheels for what it's worth - I suspect AME would do well with this group if they made the right offsets for us.

you want to be careful with tires, and keep the difference between front and and rear diameters close to stock or the traction control/vdc will act up, at least it did on the 350Z

the stock set up has the rear overall diameter slightly bigger than the front by about 5mm so you definitely dont want to go taller in front

ChrisSlicks 05-15-2009 08:23 AM

I have a slightly taller front. The difference in height front to back is the same as stock just reversed, the VDC is working fine in all conditions.

I also have a 275 up front on the stock 9" at stock offset and there is plenty of clearance. A 9.5" on the same center line shouldn't be a problem. I think Danny's is just rubbing because of the low offset pushing the wheel out too far.

Now my TC light and the TC Flicker light are turning on on the dash when I drive the car hard. The TC seems to be turning off completely on its own. I have a feeling its got something to do with my BRAKE light coming on when the cars weight shifts...as if it had low brake fluid in the res. Im going to order my rotors this weekend and have the brakes redone to see if that gets rid of the issue.

And I need to retighten everything in the exhaust. Seems like some bolts are loose. Lots of rasp/rattling and its hitting the cross member on bumps. I am sure I have an exhaust leak.

Yeah when the TC light stays on and disables itself, in my experience the TC has given up because some inputs seem mismatched to it. I've had it happen under two different conditions so far. Once when I re-attached the steering shaft incorrectly (steering wheel wasn't centered when wheels were centered), and another time when we forgot to turn off VDC before hitting the dyno (front wheels not moving at 100+ mph :)). I can't imagine what could do that related to brakes though, unless there's an issue with one of your wheel-speed sensors.

Don't let it go very long, or you'll burn out a gasket like I did. If the gasket is still good retightening can save it.

RCZ 05-21-2009 11:29 AM

Yeah, I'll get everything checked out next week when Im getting some stuff installed...

miguez 05-23-2009 09:21 AM

RCZ, check this out. Even though they have not reported yet after adding brake fluid, they have hit the same snag as you on the brake lights. You're not alone :).

RCZ 05-23-2009 11:16 AM

Hahaha, I figured it was the same exact thing... thats hilarious how that guy and I came to the same conclusion. Thanks a lot for the article miguez, that makes me feel a little better.

miguez 05-23-2009 05:56 PM

You're welcome. And nice new avatar!

KW Variant 3's Ordered.

miguez 05-27-2009 11:55 AM

From where? Also, I never saw 370Z specs for the KWs, do you have them?

Thanks,

RCZ 05-27-2009 12:06 PM

From Dan @ Outperform Shop

Same as G37, the rebound is slightly different though.

semtex 05-27-2009 02:17 PM

You're going to need this sticker on your car after you lower your iy. ;)

Nice! I would have liked to have purchased those but there was alot of confusion at the time and whether or not it would fit our cars properly....I am happy with BC tho, they made a good bang for the buck suspension, no doubt about that!

Good luck and ofcoarse, update us!

Cool RCZ, nice buy! Looking forward to your journal's update on fitment and impressions! Any track days on the schedule?

RCZ 05-27-2009 07:53 PM

There are ALWAYS trackdays on the schedule. Im not in a hurry to get back on the track immediately though. I want to get a few things squared away before I get back on the track...brakes, sways, alignment (control arms). Sigh, so much to do ;)
