Everyone I know who has them + all the online reviews say they have better cold bite than most stock street pads.

I plan on only using them on the track :)

ChrisSlicks 05-06-2009 10:10 PM

You may be right about the stock pads, their cold bight is pretty lame. At the track the Carbotech's rock! Haven't tried them in the 370 yet but in every other car they've performed very well.

Yes.
It would be nice if the car could pull hard throughout the rpm range.

Meh, it's a high-revving V6, not a torque-y low-rpm V8 like my last car. I kinda like the change in character. Above 4K is where this engine really starts stretching its legs.

I'm a little confused. If they have good cold bite, better than stock street pads even, then why are you only planning to use them on the track? I'm only looking to upgrade my street pads, so maybe I'll go in for SS lines with you guys only, and get the EBC Yellows as I had originally planned.

westpak 05-07-2009 07:50 AM

yellows are track pads also, the reds are a great street/autox pad

Its a preference thing. As any good track pad is, they are noisy and dust a whole lot. If anyone ever tells you their pad is amazing at the track, quiet and low dusting, they are lying to you. So I am planning on taking them out after every trackday. That way I dont wear down my trackpads on the street...

I agree, there is no such thing as a great street/track pad

if it is good for the street it will be toast on the track, and if good for the track it will suck on the street mainly due to the noise and also dust

semtex 05-07-2009 08:33 AM

Well, I ran EBC Yellow on my 350Z with a StopTech BBK as my everyday street pads. They worked great. I never tracked them though. But according to you they're track pads, right? And you're right -- I checked with EBC and they are indeed track pads. So maybe EBC Yellows are the exception to the rule that there's no such thing as a pad that's good for both street and track (?).

interesting, I ran the Reds and were great, only squealed once in a blue moon and stopped great, but I know people that tracked them and they were notup to the extreme temps.

that is cool the yellows were good for you on the street, for the track I have seen some seasoned guys give up on the yellows though and switched to Carbotechs

ChrisSlicks 05-07-2009 09:17 AM

There is no one size fits all. In the warmer climates you can get away with running a track pad on the street but you will pay the price of noise and dust and shortened rotor life. If you wash your car every weekend then the dust might not be an issue for you.

RCZ 05-07-2009 10:20 AM

Which I do, but the carbotechs are noisy. Which I personally don't mind, but its embarrassing if I have to take out clients to lunch or something...

Well that would be "client" unless you stuff one of them in the back. :icon17:

RCZ 05-07-2009 12:13 PM

Not true.

Roller skates and a tow rope. Nuff said.

RCZ 05-07-2009 12:20 PM

no roller skates for a few of them....people have been annoying lately....

semtex 05-07-2009 12:32 PM

Well in that case, roller skates combined with hard braking? ;)

RCZ 05-07-2009 01:32 PM

Sir I like how you think.

travisjb 05-07-2009 11:26 PM

Dr. Acula 05-10-2009 08:56 PM

RCZ, ive been keeping track of your journal and i plan on doing the same exact mods to my 370 when i get it.
how much is all of these mods costing you in total as of now?

RCZ 05-10-2009 09:12 PM

Lol you dont want to know...

Dr. Acula 05-11-2009 08:19 AM

damn.
I'm guessing it cost's quite a lot :(
I'd really like to know though hahaha
I might not do the same exact mods as you but pretty close.
have you installed anything that you think wasn't worth the money and what is it?
I just don't want to spend a s***load of money on mods if the result is minimal.
thanks. (:
btw I think this is my favorite and most useful journal!

semtex 05-11-2009 09:13 AM

^ Why don't you just go to Stillen's website and look up each part in RCZ's sig and note the price of each item? You could even add them all up in a calculator to get a grand total. It's not rocket science. I'm just sayin'.

I'll even provide you with a link to their site. www.stillen.com :ugh2:

You hear that Semtex/wstar/travis/danny? Most useful in your faces. :rofl2:

I wasn't saying you don't want to know because its a lot.

I think you could live without the headers.

theDreamer 05-11-2009 06:12 PM

Awww, are we going to have to start a poll on who has the most useful journal. :P
I still think Semtex has you by one, his shift knob is just so awesome; though wstar is local to me so I can always bug him and see his car if I want.

LOL!!! Oh I see how it is. Bringing out the big guns already huh? I was going to offer free Domino's Pizza coupons, but there's no way I can compete with THAT!! (Especially not after the snot-in-the-pizza PR disaster.) I mean c'mon! :bowrofl:

Mods, please ban this guy. He is clearly advertising pornographic material on the forums and selling stuff when he's not a vendor.

SoCal 370Z 05-11-2009 10:20 PM

RCZ 05-11-2009 10:48 PM

lmao^

Dr. Acula 05-12-2009 07:04 AM

I still prefer RCZ! (:
I live in near miami and I think I've seen you drive your car! haha
hopefully I'll meet up with you when I get my z and we can go to the track or something?

RCZ 05-12-2009 07:34 AM

We can meet up whenever man, there are meets and stuff we all go to. Check here!

SFZCC

Also you are welcome to come to the track too, just keep in touch and I'll let you know when the next one is. 350z or 370z who cares.

Dr. Acula 05-12-2009 09:30 AM

i should be getting my 350 back sometime this week.
but its completely stock because i sold my intake/ecu and exhaust to my friend because he just bought a 350z hah
but i really want the 370 but i cant seem to find a buyer for my car and the dealership is practically stealing my car with the trade in price. :(
i just want a 370z already!!!

anyways, if i do get one id like to drop a twin turbo in it but i think a s/c would be just fine and a lot cheaper too.
what other mods are you doing to your car?
