They are fine. They aren't exactly the greatest thing at holding an alignment setup, but they do their job. Plan on getting an alignment a bit more often though because they do have a tendency to get knocked off easily.

KillBill 03-09-2010 11:50 PM

Kool, thanks, I have SPL rears right now and I'm getting some annoying noise from the bearings.....so im actually planning on getting the spc's for the rear

RCZ 03-10-2010 03:11 PM

I am a man of my word, here's a quick video of the car at idle and revving with the glass of water.

Turn your speakers up, its an iphone video so its not exactly HD, but it gets the point across. That clanking you hear is me putting the clutch in and out in neutral. You can hear the tranny winding up when I let the clutch out. Revving you can hear how much sound is transmitted into the car.

I have to say thought, NVH has decreased a lot since the install. I will take another video for you folks in about a week or so. At this point it's still not daily drivable for me.

1slow370 03-11-2010 02:44 AM

RCZ 03-12-2010 05:33 PM

Supercharger ordered ;)

Oh and I parked the car today....walked out...heard hissing...looked around...found nothing. Then it started raining so i put up my windows on the drive home.... My A/C is no longer cold. Any ideas where my leak is?

Could it be around the Stillen Gen III intake where those AC lines come close to the piping, I believe someone had an issue similar but did not hear anything about a hissing sound.

RCZ 03-12-2010 06:08 PM

good call, I will check it out later.

travisjb 03-12-2010 10:02 PM

good excuse to ditch the a/c ! :)

RCZ 03-12-2010 10:18 PM

Hahaha, yeah right! Maybe in a few years.

ZForce 03-13-2010 10:41 AM

In for dynos on the Supercharger with your current setup, congrats. Keep us posted on that sound from the clunk and the a/c issue.

A/C leak was caused by the Intakes, they were sitting on a hidden A/C line. They said its $60 for the line and $499 for the labor. I said "give me my keys, I'll fix it for $10 bucks, but thanks for finding the leak for me"

Can you take a pic or give us some pointer on where this hidden A/C line is so that the rest of us with the G3s can check to make sure our intakes aren't sitting on the same line? Thx in advance.

This would be nice.

RCZ 03-15-2010 11:07 AM

The line in question is the one that sits under the intake on the drivers side. Its right by the hole you had to enlarge to make the intake fit.

I will pass on this info to Stillen, maybe they can include a small rubber C-molding for the AC line.

Does anyone know if we can just weld these lines shut? Maybe some plumbers putty?? Its a tiny tiny hole and I think it can be fixed without replacing anything.

theDreamer 03-15-2010 11:09 AM

I took some of the extra rubber we had when installing them and slapped them between the intakes and that line. I will check when we do my LTH install and see how it is holding up.
Thanks for the pictures.

kevin.z 03-15-2010 05:04 PM

rep added. thanks for ac-line pictures.

ZForce 03-15-2010 06:04 PM

Good find glad the fix will be inexpensive and hopefully Stillen will add the rubber C-molding in future shipments.

RCZ 03-23-2010 02:24 PM

Alright: Another update on the Z1 Transmission mount.

Things have definitely quieted down a lot from where it started. I took a 320 Mile trip over the weekend and it was not all that bad. Vibration and noise are still there, but its about 30% of what it used to be. Shifts are still loud and clanky, but that will be alright for some. It still is a bit coarse through the rev range, but I would say it is livable for the more hardcore folks.

I would say adjustments could be made to the mount to make it less harsh and that its a nice upgrade, specially for those folks who are hitting the track. After much deliberation the time has come for me to make a decision about whether I want to keep it or not; whether the trade-offs are worth the small gain in feel and responsiveness.

I have chosen not to keep it. I think its a good mod with potential, but it needs to be changed a little before the level of NVH is acceptable in my opinion. I say this at the risk of falling out of favor with certain people, but in the end the real value of these reviews and tests is to be as honest and straight forward as possible.

I hope everyone was able to gain a little info from my experience, hopefully we will see a V2.0 of this mount coming up!

theDreamer 03-23-2010 02:34 PM

Thanks for the honest review RCZ, maybe with more work we will get something better soon.
Glad to have you review it, honest opinion is exactly what we need.

4 days left on mine :((

RCZ 03-25-2010 08:27 AM

Haha,

I actually already paid (automatically) for it a few days ago, but my account has not been updated for some reason. I was actually just coming in here to write something about it and report myself as SPAM so AK would see it ;) I would send him a PM but I would have to delete too many ongoing conversations to clear out my PM Box.

Could someone be kind enough to send AK a PM for me?

I don't see how this comment will have you falling out of favor with anyone.
