Sorry for the extra post but anyone know about filling in the two spots where the nissan badges are? Bodyshop guy sounded a little concerned about it but the painter wasn't.

Has anyone done it? I'd have to think I'm not the first...I'm trying to find pics but most appear to be aftermarket bumpers.

Thanks!

There could be 3 ways to do it. One is the obvious tons of filler. The other would be some smooth fiberglass work. And the third would be cut it out, and have some plastic welding done w/ a smooth piece of plastic and still a little fiberglass to hold it all together.

Then again, it's not impossible to have those painted either. Maybe a flat black w/ gloss black letter on the "NISSAN". and Gloss black 370 Z

That's a STRONG suggestion! I really don't want to hide that it's a Z so powdercoat them to match the wheels so it's a bit more subtle!

It's on!!!!

Thanks man. Last little thing, thinking these JDM lights may be too bright when it's all wrapped up. Worst case, I'll see if Marco can paint them inside too. Not doing LEDs, think I'll just smooth out the dimples. Have to take one more look at those LEDs before I pull the trigger

thks again man

I'd vote no LED's for a matte black, you want the subtle aggressive look and the LED's are not subtle.

Don't shave the doors, just have them paint the handles to match. I actually think gloss black on the Nissan hamburgers would look good on a flat black car.

Also, perhaps instead of LED tails, just have them tint yours while they are at it.

I had my handles painted and my tails tinted and I think the same would look great on yours too.

Agreed. I cannot believe you are doing matte black because regular black is too much work.

I *love* matte black, but it is way more work than any other paint job. If you don't take car of it, it will look like &#$ in a week. Vinyl would be much, much easier.

I hate to say anything because you're probably already committed, but I can't believe anyone hasn't said this so far...

I know its a hassle but I really like the look.

I'm not following you on the vinyl, are you talking about the vinyl wraps they do for advertising on van's and such? You can actually get a whole car vinyl'd a different color? Where can I get info about that, or pics?

The black Z with black handles and wheels looks great Mike, nice job man!

Just as matte black will be a handful to maintain, I would assume that a vinyl wrap would be just as much of a handful, no?

I wouldn't think so, as it will be much harder to scratch or get chips. It will still show fingerprints, but I think that would be the only major PITA characteristic.

Vinyl won't scratch from an errant rock on the highway? Although it has to be better than the matte paint, I agree.
