I'm seeing some signs of prices and availability coming back down for certain items. Maybe now that the Senate gun control bill/amendments were mostly shot down (pun intended), ammo and firearms will begin to return to normal. Although here in MD as we get closer to 1 October folks will be scrambling to make their pre-banned purchases or at least to avoid the mandatory finger printing/training requirement.

You'd be joining about 1.5 million people who already have since January. Its only about $25 bucks for a year.

Its not so much "is it worth it" as much as it is a necessity.

Yes and Yes. Thats me though. You have to decide for yourself if it is worth the cost. You get training, benefits and discounts, etc. More importantly for me though, you get THE ONLY EFFECTIVE organization that defends your civil rights at the National and State level.

Recent update to my .300 Blackout build. Total length with BCE BABC(7.62) is 16". Barrel was shortened, rethreaded and brake was pinned and welded. Will be applying some black Cerakote to barrel and brake after test firing this weekend.

Thanks!!! I think I posted a pic of the entire thing in an earlier post. After the cerakote goes on and it is all pretty again I'll take some complete and detailed pictures. I've spent the last two years building this and changing parts for ones that serve the purpose of function more than looks.

The stock is a Magpul UBR with the side compartment doors removed and the aluminum strike plate on the bottom. I like to think that if I have the opportunity I can hit with the stock. The light mounted on the bottom of the rail is a Brite-Strike light with the pressure pad mounted by the AFG. That one is momentary hi only. I have a hi/lo/strobe that was a pain to work with in this setup. 210 lumens is enough to at least blind someone and not too bright for indoor use. Also getting the EOTech .300 blackout reticle when it becomes available since i also shoot subsonic loads. The rail can also accommodate a suppressor mounted inside. That is on hold right now but still in the plans.

looks slick! I'd love to do a .300 build but just can't justify it right now

Is that a lancer AWM? how are they working for ya? I've heard great things but haven't had a chance to use one

I initially built a 5.56 but decided to do a caliber change since I'm not only a large caliber guy, I didn't care for the ballistics of the 5.56. It has its place but just not for combat/defense use. Yes. I said that. But that is my opinion and I don't think anyone here really wants to have a caliber war. :icon14:

And yes, that is a Lancer AWM. Honestly, I can't say much about it as it is still new and not tested yet. The rounds are a pain to load and it seems to be a little weak I think. But all .300 blackout rounds are at least a bit of an annoyance to load no matter what magazine you have. Even PMAGs. But at least I like being able to glance at it from any angle and know approximately how many rounds I have left. Also have two PMAGs strapped together. Now that is some serious firepower.

BTW, Red... If you already have a 5.56 lying around you can always just buy a .300 blackout barrel and swap. As long as it is a direct replacement, e.g. carbine with carbine, it'll only cost you whatever the barrel costs. You can get 'em for $175 or so for an AAC. Mine is a Wilson Combat Stainless Steel fluted barrel. Those run $300 but are so worth it IMO.

Also, if anyone is interested in but hasn't shot subsonic loads, if you put on an adjustable gas block (i would highly recommend it), you can get recoil to be so low that your only indication that it fired it a hole in your target and the bolt locking back into place. Seriously smooth, light and downright awesome. Only thing better is a suppressor. :)

Done. ;)

I will say, all-in-all, I saved about $2k doing the watch instead. Though I still have my .308 build I'm working on and that is probably going to cost a lot more than my .300 build. Time will tell.

Here's my SA XDM .45. I custom fit a Powder river Precision Competition trigger kit on here. Took almost 3 hours but was well worth it in the end. Also has the Heinie Slant Pro tritium night sights and a Streamlight TLR-3. Of course the light has to come off for day-to-day carry but if I go away on business for awhile I always have it handy.

The tritium night sights are something I'll never be without again, especially on a handgun. And fiber-optic fails in complete darkness so to me they are useless. My opinion though. Sending the slide off to SA for the sight replacement was freakin' fast and painless too. And cheap! So there ya have it. One more tool at my disposal.
