Anyway, thought i'd post a pic of my latest addition to the collection.

Smith & Wesson - M&P Pro

Nice. I have an M&P 9L with Apex DCAEK. An amazing trigger improvement. I like the M&P line a lot. Note that they're currently on sale at Palmetto State Armory, most of the models (if left in stock) for over $100 off.

Be aware that there are some reported accuracy problems with the FS and long-slide M&Ps. Thought to possibly be mis-timing of the locking block causing the barrel to lock up inconsistently. The symptoms show up at 25 yard shooting. One ought to be able to hold a combat handgun shot from sandbags or other rest and get 3 inch groups at that distance. Affected M&Ps will typically shoot 6 inch groups. One looming solution (so far) has been adding a Storm Lake barrel that's hand fitted. Cost is about $200 including the hand fitting. The other solution is still in the works - a revised locking block from Apex Tactical. Early testing has consistently shown either of these solutions to make the gun capable of 1 inch groups from 25 yards.

One could easily shrug this off as being one of the vagaries of a combat handgun. I mean, who cares if it shoots 6 inch groups at 25 yards? Most people will rarely shoot if farther away than 10 yards. OTOH, I like a nice accurate handgun. Fortunately, my M&P doesn't appear to be affected as I am able to shoot sub-3-inch groups with it, but YMMV.

I really need to get back to the range. I have been so busy with work and other things that I haven't been in a couple months. Need to make sure I can still hit the target. :)

murphman 06-13-2012 05:30 PM

Nice M&P, I have yet to have a chance to fire one but would really like to. Picking up my 2nd Ruger sr1911 this Friday, maybe I will take a nice picture of them both and post it up.

murphman 06-15-2012 07:23 AM

Hey Trooper do you have any experience with the M&P shield? i am looking at that and the walther PPQ for a designated carry and at 399 the M&P just might be to much of a deal to pass on.

Not the shield no. Isn't it almost identical to the M&P, or it's just a compact version?

I hear good things about the Walther PPQ though, that's actually on my wishlist

Nice, my bros friend was able to pick one up before the price hike a couple years back and he loves it.

murphman 06-21-2012 12:58 PM

Has anyone had any experience with the Ruger 10/22 takedown? the utility purpose the rifle provides being a takedown intrigues me and has really got me thikning about picking one up this weekend

Nice little target gun! Don't try to shoot anyone with it, though. :icon17:

m4a1mustang 06-23-2012 03:45 PM

Blue Ridge Arsenal in Sterling. That's where I go most of the time.

BlackZ85 06-23-2012 03:49 PM

Honestly I don't remember. I went there and they asked if I could shoot, I said yes. They made me demonstrate I knew how to safely handle a pistol, I did, and then i went to my lane.

If I were you, I'd go with someone thats familiar with shooting, that way you dont hurt yourself or someone else, and you could actually learn a thing or two about marksmanship and the fundamentals of shooting.

BlackZ85 06-23-2012 10:58 PM

Thanks, no worries, a bunch of my friends are marines and army and they go shoot all the time, so I'll be in good hands :ugh2:

Here you go East and anyone that might be interested in a little truck gun.

Other than the plinking contests with friends it will be used as a vehicle rifle along with a pistol.

eastwest2300 06-24-2012 03:15 PM

ohhhhhhh niiiiice! i like it dude..

murphman 06-29-2012 07:20 PM

Damn i wish yall were down here. There is a gun shop that over expanded this past early spring and purchased way to much inventory on gun and ammo and ended up not selling a lot. This weekend they are having at huge sale on guns and ammo selling at cost.

Now I dont know what cost is but all i know is I am picking up those 420rd federal xm855 ammo cans for 130 each tomorrow that they normally sell for 150.

m4a1mustang 07-18-2012 01:21 PM

So... when are we going to have a range day?
