LOL! Half of Houston is shut down in anticipation of an ice/snow storm that never materialized. It's 35°F outside right now.

The local weather geeks are still trying to paint the picture of Armageddon outside but no one is buying it. "Precipitation is beginning to accumulate........"

it was -14f here this morning. I had to "help" our garage door open.

Good morning all. I am comfortably at home waiting for the weather to warm up a bit

It's supposed to be 75 on Friday

It was a very interesting morning watching the news. It sprinkled most of the night, but the roads didn't start icing until about 7 am this morning. Over the course of 7-9 am, almost all of the major overpasses were closed. Even the lower deck of I-35 was closed by 9 am. The Mopac bridge remained open, and about 10 min ago they were showing the NB side stopped on the bridge, because it goes uphill after you cross the water (still elevated). People didn't have enough momentum to get up the hill

Of course, on the SB side there is now an accident at the bottom of said hill

Houston is bundled up at home while half of Austin tried to make the drive to work today just as things started getting bad. If I had a beater, I would just take the back roads (not far and no bridges). In the Z? Not worth the risk. I'll just wait a few hours

Austin Police apparently just tweeted 155 reported accidents at the rate of 40 per hour, including two patrol cars that were rear-ended

That is a prime example of why I refuse to get on the roads with these people in these conditions. And this isn't even bad weather!

I feel sorry for any Canadians that have Texans visit them during the winter and rent a car

On Friday, 505 accidents were reported. Because of that mess, most companies decided to just close for the day. Of course, the local weather media played into the frenzy.

Reminds me of hurricane season back in SE Louisiana. As soon as anything entered the Gulf, the destruction of New Orleans was imminent.
