Power not withstanding, does anyone know if there is any difference from a wear and tear "health of engine" perspective in pumping 89 or 91 over 93?

Yes. If you're running 89 in an engine tuned for premium gas (91/93) you're most likely pinging until the ECU pulls timing back. That's not good. There's a reason they tell you to run nothing less than 91.
