 yah, slip clutch on the driver when torque is exceeded. my corded drill does not have it. my cordless driver obviously has it.  my impact driver has a hammering action to add more torque to tighten or loosen, but does not have a torque slip dial. so you have to kind of learn how many sec the hammering is needed to reach a certain amount of torque, then use a torque wrench from there.  my 18v impact (3/8 drive) has about 160lbs/ft so it had no problems loosening the nuts during the swaybar i installed a few weeks back. it's a handy compact tool to have to do these smaller jobs.

I'm pretty sure it has a clutch because that's what slips when you exceed the torque you have set. Is slip clutch used in an impact driver?
