Yeah, I'm getting ready to blow this taco stand and head home. I think a stiff drink is in order after a day like today.

It wasn't my responsibility. This stuff falls squarely on the shoulders of the Server Administrators, not the Network Analysts.

I dunno, I guess I just need to do other people's jobs too in order to make sure it's done right.

that's exactly how i feel when i have to take my car in to the dealer (or local shop) for work. i just can't trust anyone these days.

sure they do the work, but like my local shop said when i had them align my fit a while back using spc camber bolts.. 'oh, we just zip the nut with the impact and it's good to go.'

no it aint. i took my torque wrench and it wasn't nearly as tight as where it needed to be.

or dealer over filling engine oil...

Why? It's not terribly expensive (under $400) to have the job done this way and it should be a much better repair long-term vs. spraying a little clear on and blending it in with a buffer.

Of course I say that knowing another rock is going to hit the car as soon as I get it back.

if your shop can color match, then it's good. if your car is metallic it's going to be that much more difficult.

During an incident like that? Nah, I was front and center doing what I could and lending my experience to help out. The current System Admin is out on medical leave and other SAs from throughout the region have been filling in for him. So...I helped out where I could. I used to manage Windows-based servers back in the day, so I've got the knowledge base. It just sucks that when you identify a weakness to the people that are supposed to be handling matters, nothing is done about it.
