'Stale green'. That's what I was taught as the term for a green that has been that way over 30secs. Based from my speed, I would hover the brake in the event it would go amber, up to the point I couldn't safely bring the car to a stop. I cannot recall the last time I blew a red, and I spend 3 hours a day driving from south of CLT through downtown to halfway to Mooresville. It's been years, no joking.
I hate to nanny, but our cars weigh almost 4,000 pounds. There's no excuse for running a red. Wrecks rarely happen due to mechanical error and mostly occur because of driver err. I would guess many happen when a driver 'thinks' nobody is where they intend to drive. Similar to thinking ,"I dont see anyone, running the red is harmless".
I hate red-light cameras, but 'cheating' them to avoid punishment for poor driving behaviors is not the way to go, IMO.

THIS is a more acceptable application. I'd hate to wear the dang thing down going through a tunnel in VA or TN/NC though....(you know if you've been through them). Although I have a old $1.99 Autozone metal custom plate I cut the tops of the screws holes out of (and a little wide to make the slide) and slide into my plate frame to accomplish the same.

You could also get a 3M privacy screen and cut to your plate's size and insert into plate frame. That is if you're interested in flinging around about ~3,400 pounds of metal illegally.....just sayin.

Just go out at night and remove all the stop lights in town and keep the Z. It's worth it.

Love the video. Props to the guy (or gal) who came up with the idea - very innovative. The unit quickly responds with a flash once it senses the flash photography. The technology behind the quick reaction is very impressive and would like to know the science behind it.
Sometimes you "need" to run a light. Some lights are very short, and if you are unfamiliar with the area and encounter one on wet roads, etc. it is safer just to go through it than to skid to a stop half-way through the intersection.

Sometimes I need to stab a guy with a fork. Some people are unfamiliar and creepy looking and if he extends his arm at me, I'm not certain if he's reaching out to shake my hand, etc. and it's safer to assume he's a very poorly skilled pickpocket.

Interesting product. Thank god all the camera's in my town is for "traffic watch" only. Bigger question - "are these legal?" There are many products out there like laser jammer etc but using them knowingly on your car on the streets (especially in NJ or VA) will land you in jail ( I think?). Also, I question the quickness of this unit since didn't topgear proved that you must be driving at least 170 MPH to avoid the camera meaning these are super super quick cameras? As these license plate electronics gets updated and modernized, don't you think the camera's are getting quicker and smarter as well?
