Question OKC: Rent Apt and Rent Furniture? Advice!

It's still tentative, but I may be attending work related training in Oklahoma City, OK starting about July, and lasting 3 months. My work budget for the stay is something like, 2700$ a month for food + lodging. I will bring just enough from my home for the kitchen, linens, and bathroom, but that leaves

3 months-
renting a place
renting livingroom set
renting bedroom set
buy or rent a laptop/computer?
pay elec
pay cable
pay internet
pay food
ramen noodle/beer diet?

Anything I don't spend, I pocket, so I figure any sort of apt within 20 miles of 73169 that is safe (for a Nismo 370z lol), and clean.

My plan is rent an apartment, and rent the furniture, returning it all after 3 months. Would be nice to get a place with paid bills, and internet, furnished, but does that crap even exist? Extended stay hotels are just depressing.

Furniture Rental & Leasing -- Rental Package: Better seems like a good place to start.

What would you do?

Personally, I would go the bare minimum on everything (decent location is a must though for saftey reasons). For me that would mean I bring my computer, my xBox, my TV (if it would fit, otherwise use computer monitor), a fold out chair and a box of kitchen/bathroom supplies. Obviously clothes too. And I would rent a bed (I would not skimp here).

Pocket the rest and pat myself on the back.

I think most apartments come with a lease that you can't break. So it will be pretty challenging to find one without a leasing agreement. They might have some out here with maybe 6 months minimum but I don't think there are less than that. I live in South OKC and it seems pretty nice and safe here.

Check out airbnb.com, you can find an apartment fully furnished with all utilities included. Should save you a lot of hassle. 3 months is a long stay though so might be tough. But look for something like that

Or try craigslist but be careful with that. Check out any place first before giving money

The FAA brings a lot of folks into OKC for extended training. Search for "FAA housing OKC" on the Internet. They are designed for the type of per diem situation you describe. I am not sure if you are FAA or need to be to stay there. It might be worth checking out.

Nah. That is what I'm trying to avoid. At these FAA Housing places (which are not actually affiliated with the FAA), they know what your per diem and food allowance is, so they charge exorbitant amounts for their lodging. They will give you one room in a three bedroom house (and fill the other two rooms up) and charge you 48.60 per day. The exact per diem allowance. That's over 1400 a month for a bedroom, in a house you share with two other people. These houses are just run of the mill 1400 sq ft houses, and you know $1400 from one bedroom tenant would pay their entire mortgage that month, with property tax and insurance escrowed into their monthly bill as well. Screw price gouging greed mongers :P

When I got out of flight school, I had training in Waco TX. Was in a similar situation. We found housing in an apartment complex right near the Baylor university campus that came fully furnished and they let us rent for 3 months. The only thing was telling them my buddy and I wanted two apartments and only one bed per apartment instead of the two beds they had set up for college roommates. So if there is a university nearby, that might be an option.
