Angry It grinds my gears when...

I'm on the left lane behind a car cruising at the 45 MPH limit. When the right end is about to end, at least once a week some car speeds (60+) through the right lane and narrowly cuts between me and the vehicle in front.

Shortly after the right lane ends I make a right. It is a clean, long stretch of road (~ 1/4mi). Towards the end, I make a left to enter the parking lot of my work place. To the right is the parking lot of another company.

It happened again this morning. It's the same driver who works across from my work place. He speeds out of nowhere and cuts me off at the last minute and squeezes between me and the vehicle in front. The long stretch of road is typically 30-40 MPH. This driver? He drives under 20 MPH while I'm behind his tail. Before he turns, he stops for a few seconds, and then slowly turns.

This is at the second time he has done that in the past couple of weeks. Another one from the same company did that to me as well.

I'm so nice I don't even honk or cut them, but I couldn't help letting the F.I. exhaust roar around 2-3k in 2nd and 3rd while I'm behind them. I'm tempted to ask him what gives? Next time I may hold the horn, but whatever. [sigh]

You need to honk at the guy. Either he's just a douchebag or he's completely oblivious to what's going on around him. Either way you need to let him know "in the act" so he can A) realize his mistake and stop or B) realize you won't stand to be pushed around on the road and stop.

I feel for you. One of my pet peeves is people who stay in merge lanes until they disappear. Often they are acting like it's their lane that remains and the left lane is merging into the right, but it is the other way around. The merge lane is for .. well .. merging. It's not for seeing how long you can keep the guy to your left guessing.

Let him hear that exhaust note the next time he tries to cut you off, it might scare him away. I hate when you're trying to change lanes and you notice that some car in the next lane leaves a gap for you to come in. Then when you try to do it, they all of a sudden notice and have to speed up to not let you in the lane.

Amen to that, sort of.
I drive on a three lane highway which goes from Indiana into Kentucky. The right lane of the bridge is basically an exit onto a couple of busy highways. People stay in the middle lane until the last possible minute then merge into the right lane. Meanwhile slowing everyone in the middle lane down and, for some reason unbeknownst to me, also slows down the left lane.
Generally when this is happening, they are jabbering away on the flippin' cellphones. Pi***s me off royally.

ha. That's like another pet peeve (I got a million of them) -- cutting in line! In my morning commute I cross an overpass that joins another freeway. I'm in the middle lane and need to get into the right lane to exit. It's usually pretty busy and I try to get right as soon as possible, but there are always those who stay in the faster flowing middle lane then try to merge in right before the exit ...

You know I think the more studies come out that this is a dangerous activity the more people do it. On my way home from work I sit in crawling traffic for about 15 minutes. As I look around everyone is talking on their cell phone. It makes sense that every other day someone gets rearended in this section of highway.

^ My dad got rear ended twice in one year, and my co-worker got rear ended as well. With my co-worker's accident, it was a tween who was probably too busy texting on his phone.

I just got my front bumper redone with a fresh layer of clear bra last week, and I'm quite paranoid about people carelessly cutting in front while being inches away from my front bumper. My rear bumper was scraped from a careless lane changer last Fall on a different street... at the red light!

The driver from this morning pulled this move on me about 2 weeks ago. I didn't do anything crazy other than revving it up a bit in 2nd and 3rd while coasting (30-35 MPH) behind him to work, but hearing the car made me feel better. There's plenty of room to cut him off, but I preferred not to.

Then over a week ago I was behind a truck on the left lane, and we were going the limit. Some lady approached behind me, switched over and drove next to me for a couple of blocks. At the last minute, she sped up and wedged herself between us (inches away from my bumper) causing me to hit the brakes. I switched over and ended up cutting both vehicles at full throttle. I didn't have intentions of cutting the truck, but I was angry and was a bit careless. It was a bad morning and I lost it.

Then there's the occurrence from this morning posted from the same driver of 2 weeks ago.

This sort of problem happens quite frequently when I drive to work on this road. Several months ago I saw an old truck approaching fast on the right lane. Carelessly curious, I gave it a go in 3rd. The driver still managed to cut me off, and my speedo was approaching 70 MPH!

I try my best to keep cool [sigh]. Basically I have to be extra cautious on this road. Perhaps it's time to invest in a pair of high dB horns? Haha.

primary cause of all the traffic in Atlanta! the people merging at last minute.

Heading down GA 400 its 4 lanes at I-285.

People in the far left lane only change to the far right lane about 100 yards or something from when the exit is.

Causes everyone to slow down.. and brakes are a compounding affect.

If person A Brakes for 2 seconds, more than likely person B behind them will brake for a little longer. And then Person C etc.

Accelerating is the same thing then after they make you slow down.

Person A takes off, Person B takes off like .3 seconds after he sees person A go. Person C a lil later etc.

When you do this with ALOOOOOT of damn cars and also then people not otherwise paying attention = traffic.

Op- follow him to work and talk to him when he gets out of the car. People feel invincible until you show up in their face outside his little comfort zone

Haha I'm tempted. We'll see what happens next time I run into him. The parking lots are right next to each other and divided by this 1/4 mi. stretch of road.
