I still don't understand his reasoning behind it being "seriously un-cool"......

I enjoy watching the show but he's an idiot. Logic would dictate that a Z is "cooler" than a Focus RS.

I'll never understand that tea drinker.

It had nothing to do with where he thought it should go. It had to do with setting up that little sketch where the two of them are fighting over it. If you watch the comparison he did with the 370 and the BMW z4 you get a very differant impression than "seriously un-cool". This show like any on tv is all about ratings.
