And yeah... I love doing this kind of stuff. I'd rather tweak things than spend an arm and a leg on something new that may not have good synergy in my system.

But my next big thing will be a pair of McIntosh monoblock amps and pre. I love that sound. And I'm thinking about building a separate cabinet for the AADs to go under them and will house 2 - 8" woofers. But that is down the road a bit.

Tell ya what... it was hard trying to keep the car mods on the back burner. But when I made the decision to do this mod and I gutted one of the speakers I was committed to it. Then the audio bug bit again.

Yes, I'm on Audiogon. Over the last few years though I've mostly just played and enjoyed it, concentrating more on my car. I have a good friend that has an entire McIntosh set up, loves those monobloc power amps. When I purchased the Panny Plasma at Christmas I had to redo my audio as I changed out the cabinet and my old amps were just too big. I now have WYRED 4 Sound monoblocs for my R&L channels, and a multi channel (monos inside one chassis) WYRED 4 Sound for the center and surrounds and zone 2. They are really nice sounding, based on the Bang and Olufsen ICE technology. I'm trying to sell my Odyssey Stratos monoblocs now. I used to eat, sleep, and breathe audio/video ....... I still love it, but tend to more just play the damn thing and enjoy it these days :icon17:

And I never heard any of the W4S. I need to get to an audio convention so I can hear all this stuff and make some informed decisions. In the grand scheme of things I'm still entirely new to the audio world (got into it in 2010). But McIntosh for sure. Just need to save some dimes and not fall prey to the car mod bug.

I like this site for reviews of good equipment you might not otherwise hear about (smaller manufacturers):

Not cheap by any means. I looked at one of their Bentley models and nearly messed myself. I like watches but $1,500 is about my max. I mostly wear Movados as I have a wrist the size of a girls and Movados don't look silly on me like other brands

There were a few Creeds I wanted to try but at $300+ / bottle didn't want to not like them after a few times. So I ordered some 2 ml sample sprays (about $10 ea.) and it's enough to try it for a couple of weeks. Only took 3 days to get them.

Gotta pimp luckyscent.com, theperfumedcourt.com, indiescents.com and theposhpeasant.com for samples up the wahzoo! :) Can't say I've tried the decantshop.com personally yet, but seen it mentioned elsewhere.

Now, if I could get a sample of some Creed Windsor...!

So what are some of your favorite 'stuff' websites? My main two are:

Uncrate

acquire.com: The Leading Acquire Site on the Net

Uncrate seems to post a lot of stuff after Acquire - like they're just puling from there. But I do like that Uncrate has an app - good for when you need to kill a few minutes.

Any other good ones?

Good stuff!

I was having trouble with my humidor in recent months, but I finally got it back to holding a steady 70%. The cigars are happy now so a VSG is in order soon.

Haha the VSG is a great cigar bro. Pick up some Liga Privada's, and the Nica Rustica you'll love em!
I use Boveda packs, they're a bit more expensive then humidity beads or distilled water, but I drop in a few packs and that's it. Been using them for about a year they're great, I never have to worry or check up on the humidor anymore.

I'll have to track those down. Thanks for the recommendation!

Surprisingly enough switching back to regular old distilled water did the trick for me!

And Im just sitting here trying to figure out how to afford a 500k house... Anything below that puts my family in a bad neighborhood. Yay for Cali being ridiculous again!

nah! just think what you would've lost had you bought that $500k house 7 years ago! :) CA is expensive though. I'm just outside of Chicago so some of the areas by me are expensive too. If they aren't expensive, the local taxes will kill you. Personally, I like to have a lot less home than I can afford. Fill it with nice things, and have money left over to go on vacations, buy a nice Z, and enjoy life with a little less stress. :tiphat:

Ive committed myself to not getting a home in Cali. 500k would be a bit hard for my family since I'm the only income (wife is in school for her RN). But anything less than that puts us in a bad area... Cali is frickin ridiculous in its home values. So were thinking town home, or something along those lines. two car garage is a must though. I'm just tired of renting homes and throwing money into the drain.

I go to Cali every year to spend a week mountain biking around Laguna Seca and road riding in the surrounding areas. It's expensive, but there are some other more reasonable areas if your willing to commute. Otherwise, on an up note!, rents are very reasonable there and you haven't lost much at all by being a renter in recent years.

scottIN 09-02-2014 11:22 AM

Not a real expensive item, but it should be.

If you wear undershirts, check out the Uniqlo Airism line. So thin, soft & comfortable. And like $12. I'd say they're similar to the $34 Tommy John's, but don't fall apart like TJ's. And they're actually a bit cooler since they're synthetic vs. cotton.

I tried the Airism boxer briefs, and they're thin & light, but I just couldn't get use to them. I'm a 'let it hang' kinda guy & the boxer briefs are 'hold it up' style.

If any of you guys are interested in Omega, Jomashop has insane deals on their Ebay store right now at about 40% off MSRP. Normally I don't buy from grey market dealers but at these prices it makes sense.

Makes me wish I held out two weeks before buying my AT.

I contemplated having a glass of Balvenie 40 while I was at Metropolitan Grill in Seattle.
I've had the 30 and the 25 is a regular resident in my cabinet, but the 40 is a bit above my pay grade. A large bit.
I had a really nice Glenmorangie Signet that was a steal at $60 for a glass. :icon17:

hahaha!! I do endurance racing so getting bulked up is counter productive to my objectives. There are some kettlebells behind the treadmill though. That's how I get my strength training in a couple times a week. :tiphat:

100%. Just grey market so you don't get the Omega 4 year warranty (on their Co-Axial movements).

Tried again to convince the wife to let me have a go at one but no luck. :(
