You lucky dog! If I had that kind of access, I'd never get any work done. That Whistlepig sounds interesting.

I've always tended to stick to the 2-cube max rule, but I wouldn't be opposed to using these.

Definitely get them. I have been drinking whisky and bourbon lately. keep these stones in the freezer. :icon17:

Damn, how did I miss this thread.

I just picked up the Farmstock today. It is smooth but not a lot of flavor on the palate. It does have a nutty caramel aftertaste, but definitely not worth the price. I'm disappointed since I'm a huge fan of the 10 and 12 year WPs

Those bottles are awfully full. I think you need to get your game face on and start drinkin! >D

I'll post up a pic tomorrow but after a fairly thorough trek through bourbons and ryes, I've settled on Redemption 9-Year as my absolute favorite bourbon ever.

Just picked up a pair of Martin Logan SLM speakers that I plan to wall mount next to the TV for a much cleaner look than the low quality floor speakers currently being used.

Also, my wife and I celebrated our 9th anniversary with a bottle of 1981 Château Lafite Rothschild :yum:

I love the single barrel but highly unimpressed with the quality. Turns to **** after about two hours in the glass. I drink slow and expect my bourbon not to turn that fast. Redemption 9 Year, so far as I've observed, is the only one that won't turn even after five days in an open-air environment. Now that's good bourbon! But yeah, you are right. It doubles the cost. I suppose as long as you pour light and drink fast, no problems. It is real hard to beat that one.

I have never had a glass last more than 30 minutes so it is good.
The 4 roses single barrel is nice too.

I do like Burboun.A lot of trips south of the boder introduced me to 1942.This not the Tequlia you got sick on in college.Oak and vanilla finish. So differnt than other Tequlia.Once you experience this you might want to go all the way and try Don Julio Real.

They are excellent so far. I replaced a funky pair of Bose 901s.

I have played the following for break-in purposes:
  • Pink Floyd -- Dark Side of the Moon
  • Steely Dan -- Aja
  • Robin Trower -- Bridge of Sighs
  • Queen -- A Night at the Opera (for Mrs. Dr. onzedge™)
They have revealed the weak link that is my power amp and I am debating the wisdom of pulling the trigger on the McIntosh MC152 which costs $4,500.

Add Dire Straits album-Love Over Gold ( i like Telegraph Road) The harmonics will test your speakers.
and Tangerine Dream- Poland. As loud as you can take.
If you are going deep into a six pack, Doors- Riders on the Storm.

The tonal quality is very good, but I have only about 7 hours total on them (at decent volume). I expect improvement over the next several hours of use as they break in.

I have them about a foot off the wall and I am playing around with placement to find the sweet spot.

They reveal weakness in my power amp and CD transport and I am going to replace the amp in about 2 weeks and then the CD.

JARblue 07-07-2018 01:55 PM

New ML sub recommends 50 hour break-in at moderate listening levels. I set some tonal pulses to run overnight to hasten the break-in. Now, if I turn the volume up to a movie listening level, the sub is just about perfect at 50% gain. If I crank it up to 75% it rattles pictures off the wall. Thinking about a second one :D

JARblue 07-11-2018 02:11 PM

I do not recommend the side configuration stands for the Martin Logan SLM speakers. Center channel fell on the concrete floor while I was gone the other day - it's been sitting in the same spot for months :icon14:

So I upgraded to the XL versions (FL/FR/FC) and plan to move the smaller speakers to surround (RR/RL + RC - if the one that fell still works) Also picked up a second identical sub for $500 at a floor model discount

Oh we have some audiophiles in here..

I'm midway through building a C-Note speaker kit. Should be a LOT better than the shitty 2.1 setup I'm using for my PC.

I took out a 4.5ft^3 Box with a JL 18W6 that I custom built. It will not work with the new furniture that My wife and I bought.
It was connected to a 1000watt amp to the Marantz 7702. I had to take the clock off the wall if cranking. Broke picture frames after they fell and most my ceiling lights are LEDS now because the filaments could not hang with the bass.
My wife was never a fan and never around when we went to fun levels.
Those days are over and the sub/amp up for sale.
I bought a JL e-112 a while ago that I planned on using for another project, but that will go up for sale too.
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_136E11...Black-Ash.html
Went with a 10" Truaudio powered sub for now that passes the wife factor.
(she cannot see it)
Big bass days are gone. sad.
