Interesting. I'm not normally a rum drinker, and one could generally not label rum as a "finer thing," but it is sure gaining momentum as an upper class drink the last couple years.

They have been developing high end rums now for a few years, attempting to create a product similar in value to the high end small batch bourbons. Many of the small batch and well done rums out now are quite tasty, as Shado attested too

This looks like a nice watch in the $450 to $600 range. I like the titanium one on the right.

So the idea is that you do not have to lug around your larger cologne bottle, and can instead put it into this egg? I suppose it's useful if you only travel for a couple days. Honestly, on trips that short, I've never considered wearing cologne.

Yes, the idea is to NOT have the Nazi patrol at the airport confiscate your expensive cologne because the bottle violates their 3 oz rule :tiphat:

They are cool as well, but you are right, they will show scratches, where the sliver natural ones won't.

No, but when you find a good one share. Is this going to be used to muddle mint leaves for mojitos and mint julips?

No, I am going to muddle fruit, like for "old fashioneds." Specifically, I found a Belvedere vodka recipe I want to try:

2 oz Belvedere IX (which is a unique belvedere I will explain at the bottom)
5 blackberries
4 blueberries
½ oz ginger syrup
Dash lemon juice

Belvedere IX:
Belvedere IX (pronounced one-X) is a blend of 9 natural, individually distilled ingredient and Belvedere Vodka. A new vodka innovation with a taste that is completely unique.
The nine natural ingredients and botanicals represent an internationally diverse selection and are an exiting and unique difference versus other more traditional or artificially flavored vodkas. The nine ingredients are: guarana, ginger, ginseng, jasmine, cinnamon leaf, sweet almond, eucalyptus, black cherry, and aa juice concentrate.

Because it is premium vodka infused with real expresso beans, it has that natural caramel/brown color and a nice coffee flavor ............. so you have the vodka and coffee flavor all in one, no need to buy kahlua separate, unless you like kahlua and cream for a drink with less octane :p

Man Purse ... or Man Sack

Saw this on a local blog, I thought I would share:

Now I know this topic seems quite questionable because A LOT of Men like to schlep their belongings in a ‘stylish’ carrier, but what makes the bag seem so ‘pursey’? Well lets begin with the most basic features: size and function. These two areas are the most important things when a Man starts looking for his new duffel. The chosen sack simply must fit all of our sh*t that we must bring and also stand up to the tormenting future to come. The second area of concern is styling. Do you pick the most durable (which is most likely the less attractive) or the Ferrari of bags because of it’s designer label? Answer is simple: Choose the bag that fits your lifestyle or just buy more bags! For example, there’s no need to lock in $1300 bucks for a bag thats only purpose is to sit below the plane while you anxiously try to ignore the crying baby next to you. Instead buy a more durable and stylish version from a renowned luggage maker like Tumi.

http://theclotherie.com/blog/wp-cont...00-150x150.jpg

But maybe you have enough tote candy for the plane and need something for work. In today’s working world a lot of STUFF is taken from home to office, office to home, etc. Us being a ‘fashion inspired’ blog we will guide you on your way to picking the best Man Sack. Now let’s consider some great bags that allow use for different situations.

1. Work Inspired Briefcase from D&G For Men

http://theclotherie.com/blog/wp-cont...mt-150x150.jpg

Sleek styling and durable Leather makes this bag something to talk to about. It’s cool, simple, and provides plenty of necessary ‘baggage.’

2. The On-The-Go Messenger from Tod’s

http://theclotherie.com/blog/wp-cont...mt-150x150.jpg

It’s all in the bag Man! This cool sling bag from Tod’s offers comfort and durability with the name to back it up. Tod’s messenger bag makes a quick trip into a worry free one because everything can fit on board.

3. The AMAZING DUFFEL! from Salvatore Ferragamo

http://theclotherie.com/blog/wp-cont...mn-150x150.jpg

Now this bag is what makes our knees weak as it is a timeless piece to be used forever. Through the bad times and the good this bag will stand up for any occasion. A special thanks to it’s Italian maker is in order.

So when it comes to choosing your next bag remember that you could be the next victim of the ‘Man Purse’ travesty. Choose for function, durability, and most importantly to fit your lifestyle!

The first bag/link has a "tri-fold" garment bag. I have one of these by Victorinox Swiss Army, as well as their carry-on duffle. These are great pieces, well designed and indistructable.

Victorinox Swiss Army - WT Porter Bag

The tri-fold is designed to fit the carry-on dimensions, and it is great for not getting suits and dressier clothing wrinkled.

The hanging toiletry kit is also very nicely featured:

Victorinox Swiss Army - TravelGear - Hanging Toiletry Kit

I have the garment bag, toiletry kit, and carry-on. Carry-on has hidden wheels also so you can roll it with the garment bag over the handle if necessary. I can't seem to locate a pic of the carry-on.

frost 10-10-2010 02:20 PM

Despite the fact they look the most "purse like" of anything a man can carry, I like the messenger-style bags. Victorinox makes one I like (WT Messenger - Victorinox Swiss Army - TravelGear - WT Messenger)

I just haven't purchased one because I'm guessing that it wrinkles the shirts pretty good.

My wife got me a Kenneth Cole Reaction bag to replace my briefcase (too rigid) and it works really well.

Keeping a Healthy Muddler “As muddlers are becoming more visible at even beer and shot bars, some bartenders find it difficult to purchase the correct muddler or take care of the ones they already have. I carry two kinds of muddlers with
me everywhere I go, one with teeth-like prongs and one with a nice flat bottom.
A muddler with “teeth” is used to tear apart fruit such as lemons, limes and any other being used in the recipe. A flat bottom muddler is used for herbs, mainly used for leaves to gently release the oils and keep the leaf intact. There are few things as visual pleasing as big beautiful mint leaves in a Mojito.
With proper care, your muddler will last a long time and make many cocktails. For muddlers with teeth-like prongs, a bar towel might not be able to do the trick. I carry a mini dish brush to get between the “teeth.” Rest assured, you will find it just as useful as your other tools.
For flat bottoms muddlers made of wood, make sure NOT to use a rough scoring pad, it will tear the fibers. The standard green scrubber works great! Make sure you oil it every 4-6 months depending on usage. I also use food grade mineral oil that can be purchased in the pharmacy section of any grocery store. Sometimes, after scrubbing the muddler clean, a good soak is in order. Soak for an hour or so, make sure you give it a good rinse with warm water.
Those are the tricks to keeping a healthy muddler.”

Wood ones, while most stylish, is obviously more work than I'm willing to invest.
