:hello:

Back home from Rausch Creek. This trip was punishing. Lots of damage. One truck got 4 new dents, and a broken back window on his cap. Another got 2 new dents, ripped off a rear brake line on the axles. Another one lost the electrical connection to his axle lockers and smart bar disconnect. I got one dent and threw a P206 engine code. Turned out to be that water got into a connection. Plus the top of my head is sunburnt.

Time to start being an adult again. :shakes head:

Ugg, one of my rear tires de-beaded on my tractor after it went flat. Time for new tires. They are 19 years old and have some dry rot.

Yeah.....that's a bit long for not replacing tires. That was asking for trouble.

Another hot one. Yesterday was 98, with a heat index of 120. Let's see what today brings.

There's apparently a heat dome trapping in a bunch of heat in the northwestern area and is making it hotter than the southern states near the equator.

Perhaps there is some truth to this global warming after all :stirthepot:

This actually just reminded me: What is the tire life on cars, regardless of tread? I've read 10 years and 5 years.

For context, my Z came with new tires when I bought her in 2018 and put roughly 12K miles on them to date, which are now 7 years old. Car was always parked in the garage. Does the 10 years stand or should it be sooner?

In the RV world. It's 7 yrs. Now if it's stored inside. That can add on to that.

FWIW, a lot of people never change the spare tyre and it can be like 15 years old but still perfectly usable, holding pressure. I think it's probably the best stored tyre of all, but still - most tyres will start to become plastic after 6 or so years.

Spare tires don't get direct sun light with UV rays. That's what kills tires.

The day has come. I'm selling my Z. :(

I looked at my tires today and no brittleness or cracks. They look like new tires and with lots of tread left. So if they only got 12K miles worth of UV ray exposure, think I can stretch the time a bit more? Or would you still replace?

She says it just sits in the garage, which it does and I don't see a problem with that. It's been paid off so no monthly outgoing costs, other than gas and insurance. I see alot of folks parting ways with their Z only to continuously regret it. I truly think the 370Z is the last of its kind, where it's the driver in control for the most part and not some computer doing everything for me.

Just for sh!ts and giggles, I did the generic Kelley blue Book appraisal, and coming in between $17K and $20K. Not bad for a 12-year old car.

Never really been a fan of fireworks. Did the usual preps when I was in FL to the current house by cleaning out the gutters from any dry leaves/debris and drenching the roof with water. Also put big@$$ tarp covers over the pool screening.

It wasn't bad. It hasn't been bad in a couple of years. I didn't have to stand out in the paddocks and keep horses calm. They normally just stand and watch them these days.
