I've taken some pictures. I'll post them up when I'm done.

1st. Prep your ground. I use a rotor tiller to soften it up. Makes it easier to shovel. You have to go down about 4" or so.

2nd. Put your base stone down and use a tamper to pack it. It should be about 2" thick.

3rd. Put your sand down. About 1 " thick. This may very depending on any low spots in your base. Tamp it down.

4. Start with your first square. I use a small level to level it. You may have to put sand under it, or remove sand to get it to level. Butt the next square up against your first square. Put the level across it and the other square to get your height just right. Then level the square.

I use 3 different levels when I'm doing this. A small level. A 2ft level. And a 4ft level. I also use a rubber mallet to tap on the squares to help to get them level.

I like the way you work... you just don't throw chit together and hope it sticks... no matter what you do.

Although I've seen him throw some chit around. But when he does, he don't care if it sticks or not lol

When I'm pissed. I'll throw chit. I'm not trying to get it to stick to the wall. I'm trying to throw it THROUGH the wall.

I've mellowed with age tho.

I've been trying to decide whether my patience is improving or not with age. I think what I've figured out is that my patience is definitely waning when it comes to willful ignorance and effort. But I do find that I have more patience in most situations, especially for tasks that I attempt myself.

Instead of jap slapping the chit out of someone like I did in my youth. I now just mumble a few words under my breath, and do a Unless they get under my skin. Then I'll choke the living chit out of them.
