My former neighbor has not used them himself, but he's a big Jeep guy and asked around about River City Offroad. They are definitely reputable in the community :twocents:

I get home from vacation and the Z won't start. Guess it can't sit for 5 days.

Sounds like you either need a new battery or you have a voltage drain somewhere. Mine has gone over a month without being started. Anything longer and it gets either a battery tender or I just d/c the battery.

It's the battery. It's the original battery. I'm surprised it's lasted this long.

madwi 07-31-2020 12:21 PM

Fit has a new tire. Brand is Laufen or someshit like that, they cheap and hold air.

madwi 07-31-2020 12:33 PM

Ted was a big hit with the young ladies at Discount tire. They have it so you pull up curbside and talk to them. Everyone was sitting outside so he hammed it up till they came over to pet him while he hung out the window of the Z. :icon17: He's a good boy.

BoneZ 07-31-2020 12:52 PM

Guess I need to figure out what kinda battery to get.

Check for scratches on the terminals. You were gone for five days and it's not unknown for Redondo to show up and hook jumper cables to his nipples :wtf2:

Funny you say that. I was just looking at Optima. But you would go deep cycle?

JARblue 07-31-2020 01:08 PM

Optima quality has declined since it's heyday. I wouldn't bother with one now.

Susan is grabbing a few bottles of wine tonight. Rough day of work supposedly. If anyone wants some wicked good wines made on site from the Finger Lakes region of NY, please try out this place. It's our favorite. We usually go their for our anniversary every year. The Cazenovia blush is amazing if you like sweet things and the frontenac gris is really good chilled.

Afternoon everyone! Taking a trip to Waco today to spend a few nights with the roommates and make sure everything from my old lease is moved over to my new lease. Was going to take the family car and not put miles on the Z...but I can't help it.

1.5 hours of highway seems pretty cathartic right about now :driving:

Also look for motor oil on the ground too. He likes to oil himself up before hooking up the cables. :icon14:

Fried clam dinner tonight. :yum: I really need to find a place that does a great Smelt dinner. Those are my downfall, I love them. :yum:

Im assuming they're tasty. Salty like sardines, mild like catfish? I've never eaten...

They are really small and very mild, not salty at all. Usually use a pair of scissors to cut off head and then use pinky finger to rip guts out. Dip in batter and toss in the fryer. :yum:

Optima quality took a sh1t about a decade ago when, surprise surprise, they moved production to Mexico.

However, in the last couple years, they’ve really put an emphasis on QC and apparently have a new factory down there and things have turned around.

I have a new yellow top in my Jeep installed 7 mo ago, it’s been fine, works great, but that’s not exactly scientific info. Would/will buy again but hopefully not have to for a long time.

madwi 07-31-2020 05:13 PM

My dad and uncle would go out smelt dipping with nets. They would come home with 55 gallon drums filled. Hours and hours and hours of cleaning the bastards.
