Im in the market for a 12" sliding compound miter saw. Needs to cut 12" boards flat. "Laser" line is really preferred these days. Dont really want to go over ~$600. I have a full size radial arm saw and it is just to large to exist in the basement shop. Hoping the replacement can do everything or at least almost everything it can.
Dewalt 15 Amp 12 in. Double Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw at HD runs $599 and looks decent with good reviews. Ridgid had some kind of blade wobble issue at some point but may have been corrected now. Any suggestions or favorites? Rusty, go play with the Dewalt in store and let me know your thoughts.

Hic

I have a Dewalt 12” Mitre Saw. The blade wobbles because the retaining bolt isn’t tightened correctly.

I’m not a carpenter but I collect power tools, mainly Dewalt and Makita

Dewalt 14v Drill Driver (came with 12v screwdriver and lamp) I “cough” obtained it from work
Dewalt Circular Saw

Makita 18v Drill Driver + inspection lamp
Makita Hammer / Drill
Makita SDS Hammer Drill
Makita Reciprocating Saw ( like what the paramedics use to amputate limbs)
Makita 8 inch Angle Grinder
Makita 4 inch Angle Grinder
Makita Jigsaw
Makita Router (I have no idea why I purchased this)
And a Paslode Nail Gun

Bosch Powered Saw (thrones you can move backwards and forwards like a giant mitre and the aforementioned Dewalt Mitre

Oh and Stihl and Husqvarna Chainsaws

Everything you need for home defence

If you like Dewalt, go for it. Don't forget that you need to buy the table for it too. I have a Craftsman that I bought about 4 months before they closed. Right now, I'm making termite food with all the wood I'm cutting for the bathroom remodeling job.

Table? Schools are empty, go looting for a desk... I didn’t say that (my local school was relocating so we could collect what they didn’t want)

You're going to need a table for it in order to make a table for it.

My dad has a big green Dewalt radial arm saw that he wants to give to me. The damn thing will take up most of what little open space I have left in my garage.

For what it's worth, the tall Quickjack blocks are the exact height of the base of my Rigid mitre saw.

Winding down for the day. Got up and got my azz in gear first thing this morning and haven't stopped until about an hour ago. My azz is tired.

Loaded up the truck with stuff that the garbage man wouldn't take. all the stuff from the remodeling job. And took it to the dump. Had close to 1,500 lbs.

From the dump to Home Depot. Got the rest of my stuff for rewiring the bathroom and 2 new 1' x2' led lights. I grabbed a roll of the wrong wire. So I got to take that back tomorrow. Lucky, my brother inlaw had a whole roll that he wasn't using.

Go home and start to rewire part of the bathroom. For some strange reason. They had 3 junction boxes in one spot. I'm only using one now. The one outlet. They had power going to it from 2 different sources. That's fixed, plus I replaced the outlet with a GFI.

Wired up one LED light. Throw the break on. The light won't shut off with the switch. Off with the break. Pull light down. See where I screwed up at. Fixed it. Turn break on. No light. turn break off AGAIN. Pull light down. See what I screwed up again. Wire came loose from the wire nut. Tight that up. turn break on. Everything works.

Clean up my mess and called it a day.

I like plumbing. I hate wiring.
