Unfortunately my profession needs to be hands on treatment and teleconference/consultation is not an option.

I just talked to the VP of the hospital last Friday. Requesting to defer treatment to a highly suspected covid19 patient until results come in.

His response was if he would do an exception for me then he has to do the same with other healthcare providers! BS!

But he sits in his glamorous office. Away from the war zone.

Future lawsuits will be at hand. But Im sure HCA (group of hospital) would get away with it.

I would at the very least demand that pt get tested before treating him.....

I would at the very least demand to wait until the results come in....

Edit... reading skills.

Everyday I see fear and anxiety among nurses!

One got fired last Friday for refusing to give care to one positive covid19 patient.
I know we swore an oath to provide care at all cost.

But She has a 8 month old baby at home.

We are facing a silent/ Stealthy killer from hell !

Nightshift is pretty robust and Ive got them trained well. Dayshifters start killing me about 5 am non stop until 7 when calls switch over to actual help desk people.

WTF is a positive case doing outside of isolation? They need to be shut the hell in an isolation room until they are clear.

Patient has been tested but results has not come out.
That was my plea wait for the results before I provide evaluation and treatment pt is inside a negative pressure room.

I had to go in last Friday! Of course with PPE.

Madwi all our R/0 covid 19 are all in private isolated room. The hospital has barricaded two hall MS3 and MS1 as potentially covid rule out patient.

I kid you not if you enter that hallway Its a scene out of hell..patients mouth are gapping open due to intubation everyone wearing PPE.

I always say the words I fear not as I walk the valley of Death!

My sister is a MD Back home ( omitted) tested positive just learned this morning.
Both of her father in law who is a MD and Wife died of covid19 last week.
Bodies cremated. I hate to post this in public but this is reality guys. People are dying.

I dont know what to say guys...i wish I could laugh today.

Stay safe and stay positive. Oh and keep washing those hands.

After you visit the patient, immediately go to his office and shake his hand to thank him for his tremendous leadership. Preferably, still in your PPE :)

Happy Monday everyone :hello:

No more tool days this week :icon17:

JLarson 03-30-2020 07:13 AM

Looks like my brother may have it. He sent me a message this morning that he's running a fever and massively fatigued. Work policy is he's out for at least 2 weeks or until cleared by testing, but I'm way more concerned about who he may have infected. As harsh as that sounds, he's 35 and relatively healthy. Assuming he's had it for 10-14 days without realizing, a lot of our shop floor could have been contaminated indirectly.

Not good :-/

JARblue 03-30-2020 07:16 AM

In other news, some jackass got my card number and tried to charge $1 at a gas station in San Antonio (as a test I assume) this morning. Had to cancel my card and get a new one.

Trying to decide whether that's good or bad. My old card number was incredibly easy to remember - I had it down in less than 24 hours lol. It's come in handy a few times when I didn't have my physical card with me. But it's also been dangerous at times, as it means I can buy pretty much anything on a whim :icon17:

Someone had cleaned out my checking account one time. I found out on a Saturday just as the banks closed of course. Had zero groceries, zero gas, for the weekend, and rent was due that week.
Took the bank almost 2 weeks to complete their investigation and get my money back. :icon14:

That is one of the main reasons why I never use my debit card anymore. Credit card or cash only if I can. Credit card companies always take care of me immediately when it comes to fraud. Banks take forever and often make you work for it.

He was working closely with a trainee, so the trainee has also been informed and advised to seek testing/not to come in. My greatest concern is that while the QC dept is somewhat isolated (both by being a separate office, and geographically within the facility), the floor team lead is hard of hearing and thus stands close during conversations. He could easily have been within 6 feet of Jon as well - and he touches literally everything. I've advised our management team, which includes the CEO.

I'm also forced to come into the office (freshly sanitized) today since the remaining inspector won't be able to handle the workload. We'll see how this goes.

I wised up and have more than one checking account between my regular bank and credit union. I only carry one credit card that has the lowest limit and even then Ill use it as a last resort..

Stay safe and wear PPE if you have it.

Anymore, feels like I'm playing Russian Roulette everytime I go out of the house. :icon14: We have 10 cases in my county.

Guys from Pa. Here a link to a map that show each county.

I have 2 checking accounts. The one, all of our retirement money goes into. I write checks off of this one. The other is for my paycheck. This is for the debit card.
