If you are planning to do all of the Blue Ridge. Plan on 2 days. Do it in the middle of the week. The weekends have heavy traffic of sightseers. We did half of it 2 years ago coming back from ZDayZ.

No kidding... my mother's side of the family has lived in G-burg for the past 40-odd years.

Two years ago I drove from Chicago to Waynesboro, VA, drove the entirety of the Blue Ridge, and made it back to the Chi in one sleep-cycle. Took about 27 hours. I hit the BRP at dawn so I had the road all to myself (minus the NPS Police) until Roanoke. A section of BRP north of Asheville was closed for construction so I didn't technically complete the whole route.. I will be correcting that oversight next week

. Leaving around 5-6pm Sunday. Taking into account stops to fix all the myriad little bugs I'm sure will pop up, I'll hit the southern portal to BRP just before dawn.

We did the southern 1/3 on the way to Zdayz this year. Great drive just watch for cyclist, they are insane.

Finally got time to start some projects on the rusted beater. Working out bonding the gaping holes in the rocker panels. Front half of the car is detailed. Took about an hr to do each panel correctly.

lol what a terrible idea... I don't do CC debt. If I can't pay it off that month, I don't buy it. I could theoretically get it with 0% financing from Home Depot. Might do that down the road if I feel the need. But I don't right now.

If jack stands can fail, so can a Quickjack. If I were seriously concerned about that chance, I would be doing redundant support (either double jack stands or jack stands with the QJ).

I'm not buying the safer than stands either. More convenient for sure but any lifting device can fail.

When I worked for Goodyear. We had a single post lift fail. Co-worker was raising a car up. Was getting ready to go and set the safety. When a line failed under the concrete. Slamming the car to the ground. Figure the car fell about 7ft. I was off that day thank God. When they jack hammered the concrete. The line that failed was rusted through.

So they fixed that one. Then took the other 8 out of service one at a time and replaced all of the lines.

I'm thinking more about the process of lifting the Z and putting it on four stands compared to using the QJ. Additionally, if you keep the hydraulics pressurized after you lock the QJ in place, even if the locking mechanism fails the car isn't going anywhere.

It's not funny when someone dies under failed lifting equipment. We had a crew on a job in TX that it happened to just a couple years back. Not one of our guys but another sub on the same site. Guy was welding under a dump pit suspended by a crane with slings that where way more than out of service. When the sling broke the dump landed on his head.
