Morning all, happy Friday! Quiet day in the office - OSHA training around 10. Leaving early to finish out from home, have a landscaper coming by to give me an estimate on a little issue we're having in the yard with drainage.

Turns out that the previous owners of my house and the previous owners of my neighbors house made an agreement to allow my neighbors sump pump to drain in the front corner of my yard, towards a culvert in the road. That worked out fine until my current neighbor replaced his sump pump, and the new one gets rid of a crapload more water - so now I've got a stream meandering through part of the yard. Most significantly since there is no stream bed, it's been flooding the front-right corner of the yard where everything is kind of low already.

Neighbor is cool though, so is working with me to get it resolved and willing to pay for it. I consider it a huge blessing that I didn't have a fight over it.

madwi 06-07-2019 06:51 AM

Good on them. Good neighbors are hard to come by sometimes!

madwi 06-07-2019 06:52 AM

Finally home. What a busy shift last night.

The definition down here in FLA said it was a purple colored thc laced drink... not a Frankie Special style sex act. Although, it's still smart to have doubts about me.

TGIF!!!

Lot of work to do around the house this weekend.

Install new drag link and Smartbar swaybar on the Power Wagon.

The new patio cover is up. Have to trim up a couple of 12" concrete squares to fit around the posts.

Finish up the raised garden beds.

When the neighbor had their house built. They put in a french drain with a sump pump. The drain pipe was pointed at my house. The one year, we had a really wet spring. I couldn't figure out why the corner of my front yard was mushy. I was out there walking around when the pump kicked on. Then I could see the water flowing. I when and got the neighbor and showed him what was happening. He got out a shovel and started to dig and found the end of the pipe. Ended up redoing the drain pipe by making it longer and pointing it towards the street.

That flight back from Hawai'i has been a nightmare. Supposed to leave around 11 pm Weds night HI time. They cancelled it and reschedule departure for 9:30 am Thurs. At 7 am they cancelled that one. American ended up putting him on a United flight leaving at 11 pm Thurs to DC. He's then got a flight on American back to Austin scheduled to arrive around 4 pm today. What a nightmare...

Back from the land of crappy roads. Holy crap... the surface streets in Lincoln gave me a headache...I felt like all my fillings got rattled loose..:eekdance:

Let's see... I got called a 'terrorist' at an Omaha Burger King by some old dude that worked there...:confused: Dude... EGA means I KILL TERRORISTS..... moron....:gtfo2:

And had a moron in a dually pulling a 35' fifth wheel trailer make a left turn into a Casey's in front of me.:eek::eek: I was tempted to pull in behind him and flatten all the tires on one side, including the trailer... but I didn't figure the sheriff that pulled in behind him would appreciate that... :bowrofl::bowrofl:

I don't if I can avoid it. However, it's the only airline I have points status with other than Southwest (which hopefully will soon add HI to their stops). So I tend to use American for anywhere Southwest doesn't fly. Unfortunately.

Southwest flights to Hawai'i are available, the only challenge is they are only from West Coast ports ATM... My fiancee is already bugging me to take her there....:bowrofl::bowrofl:

Getting car inspection done today. They have to pay tags+ personal tags in the amount of $235.00 No idea how much inspection will be in Williamson county.

JARblue 06-07-2019 10:24 AM

It's a state mandated inspection. You can get the inspection done anywhere. It should be $25.50. Shops charging more should be reported.

JARblue 06-07-2019 10:26 AM

Here is the fee schedule: https://www.dps.texas.gov/RSD/VI/CostOfInsp.htm

So glad I live in a state that does not do inspections and emissions tests.
I would be screwed. They do random safety inspections on highways.Check brake lights, turn signals, head lights, cracked windshields, body damage. horn and look at tire tread.

:iagree: We dont have any inspections, if something is busted on your car when you get pulled over, they can write you a fix it ticket.

Is that o-ring for the thermostat?

JARblue 06-07-2019 10:53 AM

I've never heard of LEOs doing random safety inspections on the highway. If they see you driving with a severely cracked windshield or busted tail light, you are definitely at risk of getting pulled over for it. Most of the tickets are fix it within 30 days, provide proof of repairs and pay a $15 dismissal fee.

There are inspection stations that will pass anything. Just gotta find them.

No. I got that one with the thermostat.

The metal tubing that connects the t-stat to the lower radiator hose has an o-ring that is showing a little wear. So easy to replace right now I might as well do it.

For my Passport, I had an O-ring from a metal coolant line to my t-stat housing. That thing was so corroded, and since Isuzu (Passport was a rebranded Rodeo) had gone away, I had a heck of a time finding an O-ring for it. Found a dude on Ebay and ordered a dozen..lol

JARblue 06-07-2019 11:01 AM

I'll probably just look for one at the local auto parts store. But I will likely buy a kit with a good variety just so I have them in the future.

bunk 06-07-2019 11:03 AM

I bought a variety pack too, i think it had like a dozen or so different sizes, but none of them fit. Dang Isuzu...

The Highway Patrol does this. You will be driving on road and there will be a sign automobile safety check ahead. Then they pick random cars to inspect.

They also do roadblocks for drunks at times.

Sometimes they do drug roadblocks on interstate and stop every car. This is quite a sight.Takes an army of law enforcement and numerous drug dogs.

This has all be contested in courts but upheld.

JARblue 06-07-2019 11:35 AM

I was speaking in Texas. Not saying automobile safety checks don't happen in other states. We have DWI checkpoints for sure. Just never heard of one for vehicle inspection.
