well aware being my 7th winter with the Z lol

usually i start them more often but maybe it's just time to get a couple more trickle chargers and leave them on there all winter. i always get nervous with those thinking they'll catch on fire while im at work and i'll come home to no cars.

My mom's fiance had a massive heart attack the week before there wedding. He was taking an afternoon nap. My brother was there he is a fireman and did CPR until EMS should up. He didn't survive either. The statistics show that only about 2% heart attack victims survive with CPR when they have gone into full arrest. The electric paddles work the best if they can be applied immediately.

Put a timer on it so its on only when youre at home, or at certain times. But I know what you mean, Id have to charge my deep cycle battery for over 12 hours the day before I go fishing. Used to make me nervous the first couple times...

yea i could do the time thing didnt think about that. i mean the one i'm using shuts itself off when the battery is charged and auto turns on when it drops. i checked on it when i got home yesterday and it was cold and not charging but had the light that it was connected and done.

It blows my mind that the number 1 killer in ICU wards is Sepsis, with all the available medicine, experts, and equipment that they have at their disposal. To think that my brother pulled through having sepsis last summer (and renal failure... with no residual effects today)... puts me in awe and thank the big guy above!

Agreed he is very lucky, I lost my best friend/brother in law to it when he came down meningitis. He was gone in 48 hours. It was tragic as he left behind his wife, my e wife's sister and a 18 month old baby. We all were in upstate NY on vacation. I had left an was at my grandmother's house in MS when I got the call he was in the hospital and on his death bed. I drove 20 hrs straight through to get there. After his family arrived from Phoenix, his wife an I made the decision to take him off of life support. I held his hand while he took his last breath. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. That was in 1995. Life sucks sometime!!!

On a positive note I guess. I got three cortisone shots in my feet yesterday. Two in my left and one in the right. Now I feel right as rain again lol.

This is my 7th Winter as well. When I put mine away in the fall, the trickle charger goes on and I don't touch it until April. Knock-on-wood, the batteries have survived and the car always starts like it's been driven all Winter...

I'll leave my trickle charge on for months when I leave town... never had a problem. So how much of a fire risk are these charge devices?

I dont think theres a big risk. But my deep cycle batteries used to get really warm. Not hot to the touch, but warm like if you left them out in the sun all day warm.
