I thought I had done away with family gifts. All the adults agreed gifts were for the children and being together was enough. Then I got married and the wife refuses to handle Christmas that way with her family.

That's my fiancee to a T...

I'd get my parents gift cards to a nice place to eat (they have enough STUFF),gift cards for my kids, my sisters.... well, they got what they deserved... nada.

And I bought myself toys...

Now it's gifts for everyone.... and she pesters me about it starting in July....

July, that’s brutal. Gift cards is what drove the stopping of gifts. It just seemed like dad and I passed the same $100 back and forth each year. Finally told him, ‘Look, let’s stop this gift card thing and we can just spend the $100 on ourselves and save the effort.’

Thats funny. I gave my mom a card and 100 dollars cash this weekend. She peeked in the card. When I was leaving, she said "Why did you give me the money I gave you? " lol
I didnt have time to really shop, and I wont be able to make it to Arizona for Xmas so I had to get gifts like Pronto..Saturday I went to the local grocery store and bought a bunch of 100 dollar visa cards. The kid at the register was like "omg! this is the biggest bill Ive ever rang up!" lol
