I'm not allowed to fire him (unless he exposes himself to children or something) but I'm sending him to a class in December and we'll see how that goes. Unfortunately, he was selected for this office before I started here.

WTF?!?!?!? I turn that age in 4 days (onzedge & I share a birthday ) and I'm still getting on an airplane and traveling on a frequent basis. I've grown up with computers, hell my first one was a TRS-80......:eek:

I get it that life sucks sometimes, but with an attitude like he has, he'll be dead in less than 3 years... :(

Accurate. Unfortunately at this point I never get to play with the inspection tools. It's a lot more determining processes, procedures, and finding useful metrics.

Also apparently teaching a junior inspector he has to hit save his files periodically...

So what you are saying is you need someone to run the cmm and things? I know a guy, he aint cheap but can crash the tools with gusto!

I have a 3" or 4" stubby 3/8 that I use when space is tight. It's great for running stuff down, but not enough torque to finish things off. :icon17:

Agreed. My boss is a great example of the appropriate mindset. Started off as a brake operator, saw the opportunity in computer systems, reinvented himself, ended up one of the VP's here. He does most of large scale IT work for the company, and he's almost 70.

A little rusty with calipers and a mike, I'm not sure what CMM & FARO arm are, but I learn fast...:tup:

I just looked at buddy Google... they are measuring devices. If it's made by humans, I can learn how to operate it. It's those PA winters tho.....

I'm up. Not by much. :icon14: Want to go back to bed sooo much. Yesterday kicked my azz.

There is not a steep learning curve to CMMs at all. Software is usually very intuitive.

We do have the worst of all CMM software packages. I much preferred CMM Manager over Geomet. Ugh. Geomet was designed by people who wanted a big pair of calipers instead of true 3D coordinate system functionality.

The FARO arm software is pretty good. Either way, I've prepared extensive work instructions on their use. You could be a complete idiot and still muddle your way through as long as you were a literate idiot.

Southeast PA is mild winters. We'll probably get 3 snow days this year.

Prepare yourself for the "Which exhaust is best?!" threads! I'm already doing my pre-trolling stretches. Practicing to see how quickly I can type "Did you search?"
