It's a hot muggy weekend here. Feels like a sauna outside but didn't stop me from washing my cars! Sauna or not a need my garage time when the kids are napping. Keeps me sane :D

Go to an urgent care center, why suffer.

Idiots at Firestone swapped my front brake pads and cut all rotors but neglected to change the fluid. Had to take time out of today to wait while they did it.

Rusty 06-16-2018 04:59 PM

I've worked in the tire business. Firestone is the last place to go to.:shakes head:

I really don't care about this car. It's an accident and ding magnet. I no longer have a trusted shop or anyone to do basic maintenance. Jar was my go to with the Z.

Already went last Tuesday. Other then slightly high blood pressure, they saw nothing wrong with me. I'm just playing it day to day now.

Firestone has more lawsuits against then any other car place that I know of. :shakes head: They like to screw over their customers. You pay for services that was never preformed. They do this when you drop the car off and pick up later.

Sweet merciful crap. 12 hours later... Clutch in. Flywheel in. New CSC in. Ready to re assemble, can't get the splines aligned. Like an idiot i re attached some of the wire harness already. Have to disconnect it and move trans back out to check spline orientation.

Rusty 06-16-2018 07:25 PM

Had to get a new cell phone today. Cracked the screen on the old one at ZDayZ this year. Finally had time to get one. Picked up a Kyocera DuraForce Pro. It's dust, shock, vibration, temperature, drop and water immersion up to 6.5 ft. My old phone was the same thing, but it was 5yrs old. The new phone has the same operating program. So there is no learning curve. I liked my old phone because I could go into the water without worrying about. It's been swimming a couple of times by it's self. Hope the new phone is the same. The new phone seems to run faster too.

I leave the tranny in gear when I remove it. When installing it, and the splines don't line up. I turn the output shaft a little to turn the input shaft. And when the tranny pops in. Unless the disk and pilot bearing are not align up. Then you have to use the alignment tool again.

We give the Kyocera out to the maintenance staff. They beat on the equipment and it keeps working rather well.

My old phone been through helll. It's been dropped, stepped on, swimming in 20ft of water, cover in mud, etc. :rofl2: I don't know how the screen cracked on it tho.

Ian B 06-16-2018 08:18 PM

Just got to hospital to work a quick 4 hour shift. Thank God it's slow here. Please let it stay there for next 4 hours.

Strong possibility they did this to me this past Wednesday.

Trans in the old maxima took a dump today, driving along at 55/60 mph. heard a big
" clunk " but was acting normal until the next time I came to a stop ( 5 mi. ) went to take off and it would hardly move ..... Stuck in 5th ( auto )

Now to replace the trans or the car. It's looks and runs great and only has 133,000 mi. on it, but it's only worth $3,500/4,000 retail, it's an 06
The big bummer is, I'm going to have to use the Z as my daily running up and down the freeways of the motor city :icon14: until I figure what I'm going to do!

If you’ve had the car a while; then you know what kinda overall condition it’s in....if it hasn’t been problems otherwise-have transmission built.
Gonna cost 20-25 for something new & reliable.

Be sure your clutch alignment tool slides in/out easily & all the way into the pilot bearing.
On some trucks I’ve used a tiny bit of anti seize on the transmission input shaft tip & beginning splines (not a lot).
Hope all goes together well,,,going back to sleep.

Does it have the floor board rotting issue? If not and in otherwise good condition could be worth it to have it rebuilt or just drop a used trans on there. Or.... You could be like me and just use it as an excuse to get another car, haha
