HAPPY MONDAY MORNING ALL: :hello:

After first repping Mr. K., I proceeded to rep the usual suspects until cut-off by the admin.

Pretty uneventful weekend chasing furniture with the wifey for the son's new townhouse. The little sh#t gets back from a six week business trip in Calgary to a freshly painted, fully furnished townhouse without having to endure the pain of that miserable four hour closing session last week.

Looking forward to watching The Masters this week. It's one of my rites of Spring that lead to summer:

- Final Four
- The Masters
- Kentucky Derby
- Indy 500 (WHOOT!) :excited:
- LeMans
- Tour de France
- Countdown to football season

Okay, that goes into the fall, but you see where I'm going with this. :happydance:

Have a great week.

kenchan 04-03-2017 06:11 AM

wow ur kid is getting a super deal! :icon17:

i know i HATE painting wallz.. which reminds me, i need to paint one of da kidz room back to normal wall color.. i got carried away when my kidz were born and painted the wallz a baby blue color :ugh: never doing dat again. :shakes head: :rofl2:

will probably fix it up dis summer since we're not planning on taking any big vacations dis yr.

and im already done with car stuff besides polishing (one day?) and oil change on da GTI (1hr?) :D should have plenty of time to fix it up nicely. :ugh: but first i need my painus right arm to cure itself. :ugh2:

njobe89 04-03-2017 06:16 AM

not this type:

Bottom one is for the springs on struts. Top one is for coil springs. :tiphat:

I believe that if you are doing Swifts, you are pulling the whole front strut and replacing it with a pre-assembled Swift. No need for the bottom compressor. But...... I could be wrong.....

Leingod 04-03-2017 11:09 AM

When i did my swifts, we used the bottom picture ones. It was scary at times. The amount we had to compress them was worrying.

We took the stock springs off of the struts and compressed the swift springs onto the stock struts.

Ghostvette 04-03-2017 11:26 AM

After reading the linked thread, I stand corrected. I was apparently thinking of something else entirely.... :ugh2:

Not enough coffee......:eekdance:

The top ones will allow you to grab the very top/bottom coils bc the arms are thin but I used the bottom ones too for my Swifts, no issues getting it compressed.

Is it Friday 4:30p yet? :ugh:

Gosh darn I want to get the Z out on the road full time. Took a nice, slow cruise through the back country roads this weekend and it brought on Z fever pretty bad.

That works too. As long as it has some citrus-y flavors also

one other tip is to mark ur front strut hat which bolt goes into which hole in the strut tower. dere is an orientation and u have to screw down the shaft nut so dat the hat is in that same orientation before u mount it back on da car.

besides that, removing the endlinks from the swaybar, u need both front/rear wheels off the ground in pairs. dont force the threads out as they will strip. you should be able to push them out with your fingers with little to no force

i always use a hydraulic under da knuckle to preload da suspension before torquing da fasteners down.

just basic stuff :D
