Me: Hello, this is Mike
Scam: Hello. i am calling about the issue on your Windows machine
Me: Oh, good! It's been showing weird signs lately and has been really slow!
Scam: I'll need you to click the link I'm going to send you
Me: What link? My screen is currently black.
Scam: Is the PC powered on?
Me: 1 sec...
*1 minute later*
Me: Ok, it's on. I think. it's showing a weird symbol.
Scam: The login screen?
me: No. It says Linux and shows a penguin
Scam: That's the virus. Cna you get to my link?
Me: No, i can't. I must be running a different OS. Do you want me to trace our phone call now or after?
Scam: *click*

My wife just recieved a scam call saying we were overdue for taxes and they needed our info so we don't go to jail. Now they won't answer and we emailed the real IRS their number.

You really need to read the ARStechnica article about when they called them. Dude called his friend with a windows machine as he just had a mac. They had the guy on the phone for so long he was able to install vmware and get an image going and then ****** with the guy some more.

They used to call my moms office non-stop and finally I just had her forward those calls to "The head of her offices IT dept." They stopped calling after a few times. She also has a whistle that she will use into the phone receiver and she prays they have headphone volume up loud
