That's the thing with power tools... 99% of the time, the end result is the same, **** just happens a whole lot faster. :icon17:

Forearms are big enough thank you very much :p Polishing whole car by hand sounds way too much like work!

ChaseZ 07-15-2016 09:17 PM

The pouring rain finally slowed down to a mist so got the car out for a little bit. Had been three or four days since it was out of the garage. That's just wrong.

Usually by mid July it's so dry here everything turns brown.

Happy Fishing.

Have a great day.

What I am doing you ask?

Well, I am up too dad-burned early...

I am headed in the 370Z to a meeting at 6 AM, stopping at Marie's Donuts first.

Then painting an exterior wall on the garage, hanging a sunshade, washing the 370Z, washing the Juke, packing and then grilling some meat of some kind...

kenchan 07-16-2016 04:59 AM

Sounds like a fun full day :D

kenchan 07-16-2016 05:00 AM

For me after the fun I need to dyson da 2nd floor. Followed by cleaning toilets. :ugh:

Den a nap. :D

I have done several guitars, which would be about 1.5' square areas from 2000 grit to mirror-shiny by hand, it takes at least 2 hours and yeah by the end my shoulder, fingers, forearms are aching.

The first 80% (getting a good shine) takes about 15 minutes. Getting every last scratch out... Takes what seems like an eternity. :icon17:

Mainly I do it because the whole surface has edges and holes and what-not for the controls, and it's just asking to be burned through if you use a machine, so I've never bought one. You focus on everything in between the holes/edges and carefully avoid all that stuff, even by hand you can easily burn through.

For a car, yeah, unless you are doing very small touch-up it's pretty dumb not to just go get a small buffer. :)
