Im using the Motorola DROID right now. I know the DROID2 is in the works. My next phone will not be purchased WITHOUT LTE (Verizons 4G network). When my 2-year contract expires and my NE2 comes back up...it'll be in the perfect time period for the LTE phones to mature enough for me to want one.

Whatever it is, I can almost guarantee it'll be running Android.

If anyone is looking to purchase a new phone, particularly with Verizon, then this is the phone to get. This will be the hottest phone out there for at least thru summer. I've been following it for a few months now, and plan to pick one up on the release day at full price. Yes, I said full price!

I doubt it. I used to work for Sprint for a good while; and I've never seen a CDMA phone have a sim card slot...only GSM phones tend to have them. Don't know why, but I would like to have that feature as well because I travel to Mexico for work a lot and would prefer to buy minutes while down there and continue to use my U.S. phone.

Its a security thing. GSM is considerably less secure than CDMA. Not to mention the fact that even with a new SIM card, a Verizon phone wont work in any country operating a GSM network, which is a vast majority of them. Mexico...not sure on them...

It'd be a safe bet :)

Or just wait for some of the other, better ones coming out. I'd wait for the HTC if you had time to waste.

Honestly, I thought HTC was a cheap Chinese knockoff brand... Not something to even be considered? lol. But I guess that was not correct.

(This is what I get for being in Germany for 3 years while Cell Phone technology skyrocketed) :ugh2:

My point I was trying to make about Mexico...I'm on a Nationwide + Mexico plan with Verizon which covers my minutes; a somewhat discounted rate on my texts: .05/send, .20/receive...my data is $2/MB. This can still add up for me. My current LG Touch supports dual NAM's. So you could enter a 2nd number in the phone; but I don't believe Verizon allows this. When I used to work with Sprint, you had to have a special security code that was created by the Sprint system in order to program it. So many phones can be difficult to try and program yourself. Back to my point...if I could stick a sim card in it, I could take my Mexican cellphone # on the sim card and just pop it in when I go down to Mexico. That way I'm on a local much cheaper rate to call around Mexico on MY PHONE, and not my cheap regular Motorola Telcel. If I need to make calls back home, swap the sim cards. Does this make sense? By the way, picking up the the Droid Incredible on the 29th!

jikhead 04-15-2010 10:01 PM

I've got some more news on the HTC Droid Incredible. It was made official today.

I have a LG Xenon from AT&T, not as good as the iPhone but it does have a lot of features and I'm happy with it.

A friend of mine just got the Droid and he thinks he is in heaven. :rofl2:

Doubt it - its really just a redone Nexus One (HTC makes that) with some slightly different specs I think. No reason to rebadge it for AT&T.

whiddles 04-17-2010 01:10 PM

HTC Droid Incredible is incredible (Phone Arena News)
If you love all gadgets, check our new sister site - Meet Gadget

The hardware of HTC Droid Incredible is its greatest power. It’s not like we see a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, 8MP camera, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 576MB RAM and 8GB built-in memory (plus microSD slot) combined in a single device every day. Oh, and don’t you think this back is so sexy? Ok, ok … it’s a bit angular, but still…

Besides, the device has the most recent version of Android – 2.1, and the Sense UI, that has proved to be very convenient to use.

Another reason for us to believe that Verizon Wireless is going to sell loads of HTC Droid Incredible units is the price: $199 (after $100 mail-in rebate) is more than a good price for such a high-end device.

We expect Big Red to start offering the Google Nexus One in the near future and it should become the closest match to the Incredible. The technical characteristics of Google’s phone are not as impressive, but it still ranks among the best. In fact, it fails to surpass the Desire in terms of camera (5MP, as compared to 8MP), has 64MB less RAM, doesn’t have enough built-in memory, and no Sense (which can be fixed with an unofficial ROM). In case it gets a good price tag (cheaper than the Droid Incredible), it can become a good competitor.

Below, you can see a table presenting a comparison of the main features of HTC Droid Incredible, Google Nexus One and Motorola DROID – the latter being an enormous success. The DROID offers a QWERTY keyboard, unlike the Incredible and Nexus One. You can compare the specs of the HTC Droid Incredible with many other phones using our special tool, or make visual comparison with other models using the Size Compare.

Verizon Wireless is getting some precedence over Sprint and its HTC EVO 4G, which is expected to hit the shelves this summer, as the Droid Incredible is coming out as soon as April 29. The Incredible seems to be the right Android choice for Verizon Wireless customers right now. Would you agree?

Where do you see that?

Probably the same thing as the emergency broadcast system on TV's, but for phones. Or Amber Alerts.

Ugh, why can't they just merge everything into one network. I can either choose a crappy network and awesome phones, or a better network, and crappy phones... :ugh2:

Well, soon, AT&T and Verizon will be sharing the same type of 4G network, and it'll be Sprint doing its own thing :)
