Exhaust Quieter Over time?

I suspect that Element600ee is right and the car is just reacting to different temperatures. As several others have said, mufflers usually get louder over time. I've never run into

As several others have said, mufflers usually get louder over time. I've never run into one that got quieter but I don't have much experience with modern exhausts.
