If the x or y pipe isn't meeting up with the cats then maybe it needs bent out or in to meet them. Please tell me you did check the pipe if it was right side up

If its to short or to long then the hangers need cut off and re-welded so it fits closer or further from the cats.

Any more info?

My CBE x pipe was to close together at the flanges. I grabbed two pieces of pipe and like I was rowing crew bent them out 1/2" to meet the cats. But the flanges were also twisted and didn't meet the bolt holes. So I cut them off, turned them, re-welded them, and presto, easy peasy lemon squizzy.
